Tom Holland To Fight Michael Keaton And Tom Hardy In Upcoming Movie?
A Reddit leak reports that Sony is working on a separate Spider-Man project that will see Tom Holland face off against The Vulture and Venom.
As Sony attempts to expand its Spider-Man universe without the famed web-slinger, there have been rumors of a Sinister Six Multiverse crossover that could see Tom Holland face off with Michael Keaton’s Vulture, Tom Hardy’s Venom, and Jared Leto’s Morbius. According to Reddit, the project is in the very early stages of development and will be unconnected to Marvel’s next Spider-Man project.
Additionally, Sony plans to introduce a Spider-Man, with no connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Tom Holland, in an unnamed future project. The studio is said to have approached Andrew Garfield, but he declined the offer. As such, there have been discussions about setting the films in his universe but having Garfield’s Peter Parker retire to explain his absence.
The Sinister Six are a group of dangerous and skilled supervillains who join forces to take down their common enemy, Spider-Man. The team’s lineup has varied over the years, but the core concept of six villains working together remains consistent. The group was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 in 1964, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and teased in Tom Holland’s first Spider-Man outing.
The team was formed by Doctor Octopus (Dr. Otto Octavius), one of Spider-Man’s (most recently played by Tom Holland) most formidable foes, who sought to defeat Spider-Man with the help of like-minded allies. The original lineup consisted of Doctor Octopus, Vulture (Adrian Toomes), Electro (Max Dillon), Sandman (Flint Marko), Mysterio (Quentin Beck), and Kraven the Hunter (Sergei Kravinoff).
Throughout the years, other villains have joined and replaced members, including the Hobgoblin (Roderick Kingsley), Venom (Eddie Brock), Green Goblin (Norman Osborn), Rhino (Aleksei Sytsevich), and others. Each member brings their unique abilities and skills to the team, with the primary aim of destroying Spider-Man.
Each member of the Sinister Six often has varying motives. Some members seek personal revenge, while others join for the thrill of battling Spider-Man. One of the most iconic encounters between Spider-Man and the supervillain team is the “Sinister Six” arc in The Amazing Spider-Man #334-339 (1990). This story features intense battles while exploring the dynamics between the members of the Sinister Six.
Spider-Man: No Way Home hinted at the existence of the Sinister Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie, starring Tom Holland, featured a roster of villains from the supervillain team, including Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and Lizard. At the time, Sony was said to be giving the ensemble of bad guys a shot on screen before moving forward with a collaborative project.
The film also alluded to Venom existing in a world that includes Tom Holland as Spider-Man. In the post-credits scene, a fragment of the symbiote, which is responsible for Venom’s existence, separates from Eddie and lands on a nearby bar. It remains alive and crawls away, presumably searching for a new host within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With these exciting developments and teases, the future of the Sinister Six and their potential clashes with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man create a multiverse of thrilling possibilities for fans. However, it remains to be seen if the project gets the green light from Sony.
