Tom Hanks Is Remaking What Many Say Is The Best Disney Classic Of All Time
Tom Hanks is an always welcome presence in any movie, and it just so happens he will be starring in a Disney remake of an inarguable classic from the Mouse House.

In these past few years, Disney keeps remaking classic movie after classic movie. This trend isn’t dying anytime soon as they have another remake on the way. This time they’re remaking the timeless story of Pinocchio with an incredible cast that features Tom Hanks and more. Here are the details of the upcoming movie.
According to Collider, Pinocchio will be a live-action movie. This isn’t surprising with many of Disney’s remakes being live-action. Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Jungle Book were all remade in live-action form in recent years. Although some characters and aspects were computer-generated such as the Genie, the animals, and the Beast.
Although there have been no images or trailers from the movie, it’s most likely that Pinocchio will be a CGI creation. Other characters from the movie will have to be computer-generated as well such as Jiminy Cricket and Honest John. Jiminy Cricket is a cricket who helps and accompanies Pinocchio and acts as his conscious. Honest John is an antagonist and thief who’s not honest at all.
We already know that Tom Hanks will be playing Geppetto, the woodcarver who creates Pinocchio. However, according to Collider and IMDB, the rest of the cast has also been revealed. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be voicing Jiminy Cricket, Keegan-Michael Key will voice Honest John, and Cynthia Erivo will play the Blue Fairy.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a long list of incredible movies under his belt. Some of these movies include Inception, 500 Days of Summer, and The Dark Knight Rises. An example of his most recent work is Mr. Corman, a show that he created, wrote, and starred in.
Keegan-Michael Key is an actor and comedian who’s starred in numerous projects throughout the years. He co-created, co-produced, and co-starred in the sketch show, Key and Peele. Apart from TV shows, he’s also lent his voice for films before. He voices a character in the Hotel Transylvania series, had a role in the Lion King remake, and voiced the character of Ducky in Toy Story 4.
Another star who will be in the film is Cynthia Erivo. The singer and actress has had roles in recent films such as Widows and Bad Times at the El Royale. She also starred as Harriet Tubman in the biographical film, Harriet.
To round out the cast, Luke Evans will play The Coachman. The actor who will play Pinocchio is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. He’s a 13-year-old English actor who already has experience acting in a Disney movie. He played the character of William Spiver in the movie Flora and Ulysses, which was released on Disney+ earlier this year.
Although there is no exact date for the movie yet, Collider explains that the Tom Hanks-led film will release in 2022. The website cites a Disney investor call, where it was announced Pinocchio will release in the fourth quarter of the year. Collider places the release of the film somewhere between July and September.
This Tom Hanks movie won’t be out for a while. However, The Pinocchio isn’t the only interesting project that’s on its way. The Predator prequel and Hocus Pocus 2 are both exciting movies that are on the horizon.
