Actor Timothy Olyphant has been known to American audiences for years as a rough and gravelly performer in hit television series and films. Debuting on film as part of the Scream franchise in Scream 2, Olyphant moved on to more high-profile roles in The Girl Next Door alongside Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert before transitioning into television on the HBO series Deadwood. He embodied a recurring character in Damages before he finally landed the lead role of Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in the FX original series Justified. With this role, audiences finally saw Olyphant’s range as an actor, which proved successful for the series’ six-season run. Now, a sequel series is in production, but it may have hit a snag in filming due to a real-life bomb threat.

According to a report by Deadline, the Chicago-based set of Justified: City Primeval starring Timothy Olyphant was threatened when someone threw a bomb while filming was underway. Apparently, the bomb did not detonate, and no one was hurt throughout the ordeal. However, it seemed to cause a lot of commotion for those present to witness the attempted bombing that occurred on Monday night. The local ABC Chicago affiliate picked up the story and reported that no one is in custody at this time. It is not apparent if the device was thrown because of production in the area or some other reason.

Unfortunately for the set of Justified: City Primeval, this most recent bombing attempt was not the first time the production has succumbed to a bout of bad luck. Variety reports that filming on the limited sequel series was temporarily halted three weeks ago after a gunfight broke out between two cars on the streets of Chicago, close in proximity to where the show was filming. At the time, the gunfight became so erratic that the two vehicles broke through the barricades that the production had set up for the show’s filming, resulting in the First Assistant Director shouting for everyone on set to get down and take cover. There was some confusion on the set at that moment as a chase scene was going to be filmed that day, so crew members had to reassure witnesses via walkie-talkies that the gunfight was, in fact, real. Some of the principal cast, including Timothy Olyphant, were present for the gunfight, although it is not confirmed yet if he was on set for the bomb threat that occurred recently.

Justified: City Primeval is the proposed sequel to Justified, which ended its run on FX in 2015. The original series saw actors Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Kaitlyn Dever, and Margo Martindale in roles that would help define their careers and make them television stars in the process. Goggins has gone on to great acclaim in projects like Django Unchained and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, while Dever is currently nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her work on Dopesick. Martindale won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Justified in 2011 before going on to costar in another FX series, The Americans.
