It looks like Timothee Chalamet has another critical darling on his hands. His latest Luca Guadagnino-directed project Bones and All just premiered at the Venice Film Festival and received an astounding 10-minute standing ovation. Stars Chalamet and Taylor Russell were surely getting their share of the ovation from the crowd, but the audience also began shouting “Luca! Luca! Luca!” to give the director his due. The ovation was so extensive that it delayed the start of the next film at the festival.
Bones and All stars Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell as Lee and Maren, two people on the margins of society who meet after Maren’s father abandons her. The two share a desire to consume human flesh, which causes them to struggle with their morality and live their life as outsiders. The film is based on the book by Camille DeAngelis and the screenplay was adapted by David Kajganich, who previously collaborated with Luca Guadagnino on the films A Bigger Splash and Suspiria. Chalamet and Guadagnino enjoyed quite a bit of success with their last collaboration Call Me By Your Name. It seems like Bones and All could enjoy a similar trajectory as the Oscar-winning 2017 romance.
Along with Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell, Bones and All stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Mark Rylance, Chloe Sevigny, David Gordon Green, Jessica Harper, Andre Holland, Francesca Scorsese, Jake Horowitz, Anna Cobb, and more. You’ll be able to see Bones and All for yourself when it hits theaters on November 24. If Bones and All manages to find critical success like Timothee Chalamet and Guadagnino’s last collaboration, Chalamet could be in for quite a successful couple of years.
While Bones and All was his only movie in 2022, Timothee Chalamet will be starring in two blockbusters in 2023. The first of which is undoubtedly going to be one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year, as Chalamet will be returning as Paul Atreides for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. Dune: Part Two will be the conclusion of the story told in Frank Herbert’s original novel, as the book was split into two parts for the movie. This movie will see Paul uniting with the Fremen to take revenge on the villainous Harkonnens. Along with Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Charlotte Rampling will be reprising their roles. New faces include Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot, Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, and Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. You can see the conclusion to Dune when Dune: Part Two hits theaters on November 17.
Timothee Chalamet’s other blockbuster in 2023 is a bit of a strange one, as he’ll be playing a younger version of the Roald Dahl character Willy Wonka. Instead of retelling the Chocolate Factory tale again, this movie will focus on Wonka finding the Oompa-Loompas in one of his early adventures. Paul King directs and co-writes the script with Simon Farnaby. You can see Wonka when it comes to theaters on December 15, 2023.
