Tim Roth Reveals His Big Green Future With The MCU
Tim Roth would like to play Abomination in a Deadpool movie.
Fans were ecstatic when Tim Roth reprised his role as Abomination in the popular Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. But his future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe became uncertain once the series ended. Speaking with Screen Rant, the 61-year-old actor addressed possible upcoming projects saying he hadn’t been told when or if his character would return.
Still, he remains optimistic about his future within the MCU and would love to appear alongside the Merc with a Mouth. “I have no idea if they have anything planned,” Tim Roth told the publication. “[But] I’d be happy to drop right into Deadpool. I would love that!” he added before gushing over his role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
“I was very surprised when [the role] came along, and I definitely enjoyed it. So wherever they take me, it’s fine, as long as you get to play,” Tim Roth continued. During the series, Emil Blonsky was released from prison thanks to the legal skills of She-Hulk.
But after violating his parole and transforming into the Abomination at his spiritual retreat, he was sent back to jail.
Fortunately for the Marvel villain, his incarceration didn’t last long. Sorcerer Supreme Wong opened a portal in Blonsky’s (Tim Roth) cell in the finale’s post-credits scene, inviting him to Kamar-Taj instead. The pair, who previously squared off in an underground fight club, could team up for the Shang-Chi sequel, which is currently in development.
Tim Roth’s Marvel career began with his portrayal of Emil Blonsky/The Abomination in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. The Abomination is a super-powered villain who battles the film’s protagonist, Bruce Banner/The Hulk, played by Edward Norton. The actor’s performance as Blonsky was well-received by fans and critics, with many praising his intense and menacing portrayal.
Away from the realm of superheroes, Tim Roth has appeared in a variety of movies and television shows. He is perhaps best known for his work in Quentin Tarantino’s films like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. He most recently starred in the movie Punch, written and directed by Welby Ings.
The story follows a promising teenage boxer named Jim, who trains under the watchful eye of his demanding father.
But when Jim begins a relationship with a male classmate, they are forced to face homophobia and the brutality of small-town discrimination. The film was released in July 2022. Tim Roth will next be seen in Poison, directed by Désirée Nosbusch.
He will star opposite Trine Dyrhom.
According to Screen Daily, the story follows a middle-aged man who finds himself reunited with his ex-wife in a waiting room. After being separated for several years, the former couple is preparing to exhume their son’s body as poisonous toxins are seeping into his burial site. The Tim Roth movie is an adaptation of a play by Dutch writer Lot Vekemans.
Filming took place in Luxembourg and the Netherlands in 2022. However, there is still no release date for the Tim Roth-led project, with is currently in post-production. Poison is produced by Alexandra Hoesdorff and Katharina Haase for Deal Productions.
Petra Goedings for Phanta Film and Vivien Muller-Rommel and Michael Lehmann for London Studio Hamburg UK serve as co-producers.
