The year 2020, as we know, eventually tapered off to being a prolonged battle with the coronavirus pandemic and our lifestyles switched to following strict social distancing protocols. What distracted millions from the morbid thoughts in their respective quarantines was the arrival of the now-renowned Netflix documentary series, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness. And in case you’ve forgotten how addictive watching the first part was, the streamer has debuted the Tiger King 2 trailer, which reminds us that we have “only scratched the surface” of the murder and mayhem that accompanies the controversial “celebrity,” i.e., Joe Exotic.
The Tiger King 2 trailer sees the return of many familiar faces from Season 1 of the documentary series, including Jeff Lowe, Tim Stark, Allen Glover, and James Garretson. If you thought that the events and twists depicted in Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness were shocking enough, the trailer proves that it is set to break its own records. There will be even more jaw-dropping revelations set in the backdrop of scandalous backstories, which are fueled by secrets and hidden agendas. Check out the trailer below:
While people from Joe Exotic’s life like Tim Stark, Jeff Lowe, Allen Glover, and James Garretson are back in the Tiger King 2 trailer, the King itself barely makes an appearance. And when he does, it is either from behind bars or as a voice in the background as he criticizes the legal system for punishing only him for the crimes that others contributed to as well. The documentary series will also be shedding light on the mysterious death of Carole Baskin’s husband, Don Lewis. Of course, the trailer also features the zoo, plenty of tigers, countless illegal activities, law enforcement officers rushing… after all, we are entering the territory of the Tiger King.
Apart from Joe Exotic, who we will get glimpses of, the Tiger King 2 trailer also cements the total absence of another person from the first season: Carole Baskin. The American animal activist and co-founder of Big Cat Rescue has made it pretty clear that she is not happy with the way she was portrayed in the first season of the docu-series and the fact that it is continuing despite her protests. In her statement recently, she expressed being baffled by the series getting a second season even though Joe Exotic is in jail and she refused to be a part of the show. She also revealed that Rebecca Chaiklin, who directed Tiger King, wanted to “clear the air” with her after the first season but Baskin cut all contact with her as there is “no explanation for such a betrayal and false portrayal.”
Well, whatever complaints and claims Carole Baskin has, Tiger King 2’s trailer is proof enough that the streamer will continue cashing in on the story of Exotic’s life. The series will see the return of Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin as directors. They will also serve as executive producers along with Chris Smith and Fisher Stevens. Tiger King 2, consisting of five episodes, will be making its debut on Netflix this November 17.
