The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf begins in 1165, with Vesemir (Theo James) saving a noble child from the clutches of a leshen in the Kaedwen forest. But things turn sinister when the dying creature utters cryptic words in an ancient elven dialect, suggesting manipulation by an unknown force. Vesemir is drawn into a complex web of events that ultimately forces him to confront his past demons.

The story weaves between Vesemir’s present-day and flashbacks to his youth, offering insights into the origins of the witcher and his close ties with Lady Illyana Zerbst (Mary McDonnell). As a young man, Vesemir’s life takes a drastic turn when he becomes a servant to a noble whose mistress is saved by a witcher named Deglan.
