The Walking Dead has been a cultural phenomenon that has spawned a massive fanbase. Apart from the main show, the other biggest property is the spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. That series has taken on a life of its own, and now one of its biggest stars is walking away from the franchise. Alycia Debnam-Carey has officially ended her time on the show as Alicia Clark. The woman has spent seven seasons on the show and 100 episodes, which is a long stretch that she can be proud of. Alycia penned a touching tribute to the series and her journey so far. You can see this tribute below:

Alycia Debnam-Carey started the show when she was 21 years old and now, she is 28. She speaks on the fact that she must exit The Walking Dead franchise to “move on as an actor and as a person.” Spending that much time on one franchise is enough to make any actor tired. Honestly, she should be surprised that her character made it this far without dying. The bigger reason why Alycia is moving on in her career is that she has been cast as the lead in a new series on FX called Saint X. Although she was a huge star on Fear the Walking Dead, she was also part of an ensemble cast. Saint X will see the woman take center stage as the lead. That is enough to make anyone move on in their career, despite the huge franchise they are a part of.

Most of the legacy characters from the original The Walking Dead show have also moved on or had been killed. Their killings could have been a result of moving on, so it’s natural to see this happen. Bigger opportunities often come along for actors, and they must make the decision that is best for them. Alycia has realized that and is now moving on from her huge role in of the biggest franchises on television. However, FX makes some quality programming these days, so she might be moving on to an even more lucrative series.

Fear the Walking Dead was the first spinoff that was born from the original show and has been on for a long time. The franchise is continuing to grow, as more spinoffs have been announced. Jeffery Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan are reuniting as Maggie and Negan for a new series called Isle of the Dead. Norman Reedus will return as Daryl in his own series, and there are also plans to make three movies that follow Rick’s story though Andrew Lincoln has left the original series. There is a lot of Walking Dead in the future. Alycia and her character could theoretically return is what we are saying, though that won’t happen any time soon.

Losing Alycia Debnam-Carey is certainly going to be a huge loss for Fear the Walking Dead, but the show will continue on without her. As previously mentioned, there are major character deaths that happen all the time, so that is just part of the franchise’s plan. However, her character survives just like Rick had survived. They are just heading off on their own for a while, but they both could come back at some point in the future.
