The Walking Dead Fan-Favorite Character Is Coming Back To Life For Spinoff Series
The Walking Dead is bringing back a fan-favorite character for one of the upcoming spin-off shows, another cool callback for the franchise
Though The Walking Dead is wrapping up its run on AMC soon, the franchise seems to be only growing for the future. There are all kinds of plans to expand the story and the world into movies, spinoffs, and other productions that will keep the zombie apocalypse in front of us for years to come. And it appears that one of the main cast will soon join another production at some point soon. Entertainment Weekly has it that Samantha Morton’s Alpha character will be featured on an episode of Tales of the Walking Dead with her story getting at least a bit more background.
Tales of the Walking Dead is set to be an anthology series in and around The Walking Dead universe. The reported plan is for the show to tell one-off stories about different characters and give a bit more background about other facets of the franchise. Samantha Morton as Alpha will appear in at least one of these episodes with the idea that we will get some of her backstory leading up to when we first met the character in Season 9. She was one of the primary antagonists for that season and Season 10 of the show.
In The Walking Dead, Samantha Morton’s Alpha was the leader of The Whisperers. This is a group that took the whole zombie thing to a pretty grim and terrifying conclusion, removing the faces of Walkers and using them as masks. This, in part, allowed them to more freely move among the dead, and eventually, they are able to even gather larger hordes to use to their advantage. It’s a terrifying character and her group becomes a major problem for the main cast of characters. We were able to learn a bit more about Alpha in the context of the show, but this Tales of the Walking Dead is likely to give even more backstory.
In addition to this Alpha episode, Tales of the Walking Dead is set to detail other characters from The Walking Dead franchise as well introduce new ones along the way as well. Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Olivia Munn, Terry Crews, Jillian Bell, Danny Ramirez, and Danielle Pineda are all set to take part over the course of the first season. There is still no firm release date for the show which is set to also premiere on AMC.
And Tales of the Walking Dead isn’t the only planned spinoff in the works for this franchise, far from it. Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond are already up and running. Plus, there are plans for a spinoff series focused on Daryl and Carol’s characters with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride set to reprise their respective characters. Plus, Isle of the Dead is in the works which will star Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan and Lauren Cohen’s Maggie in a story about what became of New York City during the apocalypse.
Plus, there are The Walking Dead movies planned as well which will bring back Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. So there is a ton set to come in this world with the series currently running its last batch of episodes. The show might be wrapping up, but the story will go on for years.
