At long last, Rob Zombie had revealed the long-awaited trailer for his The Munsters reboot. However, there wasn’t an official release date given. We were only given that September would be the month that the reboot would finally drop. Well, now Rob has updated fans with some great news. The Munsters is going to officially debut right alongside a formal rival, The Addams Family. Only, that series is called Wednesday. However, both will debut on Netflix at the same time, reigniting a rivalry that has been in place since the 1960s. You can see the announcement below:
This is fantastic news for those who are into the subject matter of the spooky variety. Now, fans can watch both The Munsters reboot and Wednesday at the same time. Well, not at the same time, as that would be impossible. Unless you stream one on your TV, and one on your phone, but how could you pay attention to both? Honestly, we thought this would kind of make Rob Zombie a bit upset considering that his new movie is going to battle against the Tim Burton-created Wednesday series. He seems quite optimistic about the whole ordeal, and it is kind of fun to think that both these adaptations are going to appear on TV at the same time.
The jury is still out about Rob Zombies’s The Munsters reboot. Dedicated fans can surely see the similarities between the campy humor of the original show and what has been shown in the trailers so far. It does look to be quite silly, and something far removed from what he has created previously. Normally, the man is creating films that have highly gory and adult content. Now he is showing the love story between Herman and Lily Munster.
The Munsters only contained two seasons that aired between 1964 and 1966. Although the initial series was short-lived, it gained a cult following. There have been many attempts to reboot the series since then, including the more recent Mockingbird Lane which was released in 2012 on NBC. Though it was meant to turn into a full-blown series, it failed to move past the pilot. Now, Rob Zombie’s The Munsters reboot is a new movie that might succeed where other adaptations have failed. However, it could underperform next to being released alongside Wednesday. Tim Burton has not released anything in some time, so fans will be salivating at the chance to see his next project. His last directorial work was the live-action Disney film, Dumbo.
The Munsters reboot from Rob Zombie and Wednesday will be debuting on Netflix in September. We are still not sure of the exact date, but that information is likely to come out soon. We have not been given a full trailer for the Wednesday series just yet either, so we are likely to learn that information when that trailer drops. For now, keeps your eyes peeled for more information about both these new adaptations.
