The excitement for what is to come in The Mandalorian Season 3 has been one of the most talked-about aspects of the hit Disney+ show. While we all got to see Din make his return in The Book of Boba Fett, his story is clearly not over. There are plenty of rumors swirling around the internet about what is going to happen with Grogu and Din, but the most recent one comes in way of a famous location. It is being rumored that one of the most famous planets in Star Wars lore is set to play an integral part in the third season. Din is going to make his way to Mandalore, the once-famous home to the entirety of the Mandalorians. While this might not come as a shock, he is said to be heading there with the Armorer and Vizsla.
Mandalore was first mentioned by Bo Katan during the second season of The Mandalorian. She spoke to Din about the Mandalorians, mainly her and her Nite Owls, who are going to attempt to take their homeworld back. Din called the planet, “cursed,” but it appears as if his return to the planet is now inevitable. Din removed his helmet at the end of season two, to protect Grogu and send him off with Luke Skywalker. While this move helped ease Grogu into his true path, it was a move that saw Din being removed from his clan entirely. The Armorer told Din that he must seek atonement at the “living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore.” Though Din is an outcast, he may have to prove himself yet again to be let back into the clan of Mandalorians during The Mandalorian Season 3.
Bo Katan does seek to be the leader of Mandalore, however, she is without the most powerful weapon at her disposal: the Darksaber. That weapon was won by Din via a duel with Moff Gideon. The conclusion of the second season saw Gideo attempting to cause a rift between Katan and Din for the weapon. Din returning to Mandalore at the behest of Bo Katan in The Mandalorian Season 3 might also be a trap, or Katan might also think she can beat him in a duel and win the Darksaber back, ushering in her leadership of the Mandalorians. Whether or not he sees it, Din might also be the leader that the Mandalorians desperately need as well. His eventual path to the throne might be met with plenty of adversity, but it seems that he will have Grogu at his side.
The Mandalorian Season 3 can’t come soon enough, but Disney+ has not yet revealed when the new episodes will come out. Both the first and second seasons dropped in the fall months of 2020 and 2021, so it would make sense that we are going to see the third season come out sometime at the end of this year. We can all patiently wait though, as Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni continually keep impressing everyone with the deep lore subject matter that they are pulling from. Hopefully, the story for Din and Grogu continues past the third season.
