The Last Of Us Star Strikes Back At Hateful Fans
Bella Ramsey has now responded to the haters, saying they will not be "scared" of those who hate the gay storylines in The Last of Us.
Everyone is currently talking about The Last of Us, as the show has a ton of positive attention, but there are also a ton of haters that are hyper-focusing on the gay storylines that are prevalent in The Last of Us. Star of the series, Bella Ramsey, has now responded to those haters by stating: “I know people will think what they want to think, but they’re gonna have to get used to it… If you don’t want to watch the show because it has gay storylines, because it has a trans character, that’s on you, and you’re missing out. It isn’t gonna make me afraid.”
This is certainly the right attitude to have, and Bella Ramsey has been fantastic in the role of Ellie for The Last of Us series. Ramsey recently came out as non-binary and gender fluid, so we would imagine that plenty of people are now starting to want to paint the series and Ramsey’s performance in a negative light. Despite those attempts, it appears that Ramsey is not going to be bullied, and we commend them for it.
Bella Ramsey joins Pedro Pascal as the two lead actors for The Last of Us, as they portray Ellie and Joel respectively. The performances and candor between the two have made the series skyrocket into one of the highest rated that HBO has ever seen. The series currently sits at a 97 percent critic approval rating and a 91 percent audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
One of the gay storylines that Bella Ramsey brought up is during The Last of Us Episode 3, which showcases a beautiful romance between Bill and Frank. In the game, we don’t actually get to see Frank, only a stern letter that he has written to Bill. However, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin decided to alter this story to bring in a more emotional side to forging love in a dying world.
Plenty of people began to attack The Last of Us, as they had clear issues against it being about gay love, which is ridiculous. Even Nick Offerman, who plays Bill, responded to the haters. Offerman tweeted to someone speaking about review bombing the series, which read, “Buddy, your brand of ignorance and hate is exactly why we make stories like this.”
This great response is why Nick Offerman is so beloved, and why Bella Ramsey is also sticking up for the storylines that have been cultivated in The Last of Us. The series is showcasing love in new ways that were showcased in the video game, and we certainly have had a great time watching these stories play out.
Despite that person wanting to review bomb the series, Episode 3 currently sits at a 98 percent critic approval rating. And as previously mentioned, The Last of Us sits in the 90 percent approval area for both audience and critic reviews. Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascal, and Nick Offerman are huge reasons why The Last of Us has been so talked about, as they have approached these roles with the utmost passion and grace.
For those who are more open-minded, Bella Ramsey will return along with Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us Episode 6, which will be released on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on HBO and HBO Max. We can’t wait to see what happens next, especially after the chaos of the last episode.
