The Flash Movie Will Bring In Grant Gustin?
A new rumor suggests that Grant Gustin will appear in The Flash, and take the role from Ezra Miller.
Even though the current season of The CW’s hit Arrowverse series The Flash will serve as its last, it may not be Grant Gustin’s final outing as the Scarlet Speedster. According to The Direct, YouTuber John Campea revealed in a recent video that “a little birdie” told him the 33-year-old star could possibly return as the lightning-fast superhero in the upcoming Flash movie from DC Studios. What’s bizarre is Campea’s source claims that Gustin won’t just show up in a cameo role, but he’ll replace Ezra Miller as the film’s titular character.
Campea explained in his video he received word that Gustin could be in the role of Barry Allen by the end of The Flash movie. Although he admitted he didn’t really believe the rumor, he said he wanted to share the information as it was a fun topic to discuss. He also noted that if there actually were plans to replace Ezra Miller in the DCU, James Gunn and Peter Safran would likely want to pick their own actor rather than choosing Gustin.
While Ezra Miller has been embroiled in seemingly countless controversies throughout their career, there’s been no official announcement that they’ll be replaced in The Flash. In fact, even though conversations about potentially replacing them in the movie and in future projects have reportedly taken place, Miller is reportedly in a much better place than they were just a few months ago. In addition to issuing a string of apologies for their actions, they’ve also reportedly been seeking treatment for their complex mental issues.
Miller made their first appearance as The Flash in 2016’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and they went on to reprise the role in Justice League the following year. The character’s first solo outing was originally slated to arrive in theaters in 2016, but due to a number of shakeups at DC, the film was delayed multiple times. The Flash is now set to arrive in theaters on June 16, 2023.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash was initially meant to be a pivotal release that would reset the messed up and now-defunct DC Extended Universe. Judging by the first trailer that debuted during Superbowl LVII, the film looks to still serve that purpose, however, with James Gunn and Peter Safran planning to start with a fresh slate with their own DC Universe, it’s unclear how The Flash will fit into their plans. Additionally, although discussions have been held, there’s no word if Barry Allen has a place in DC’s cinematic universe going forward.
Following the first official trailer, anticipation for The Flash is at an all-time high. The forthcoming film will see Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck return as their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman. In addition, Michael Shannon is also set to reprise his role as General Zod from Man of Steel.
Written by Christina Hodson, The Flash finds Barry Allen using his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without superheroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future. Along with Miller, Keaton, Affleck, and Shannon, the film stars Kiersey Clemmons, Ron Livingston, Antje Traue, Temuera Morrison, Sasha Calle, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson.
