Just because Eric Kripke is tapping out following the upcoming fifth season of Prime Video’s The Boys, that in no way means he’s done with the universe. During the show’s panel on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video revealed that it has ordered a prequel series titled Vought Rising, which will follow the exploits of Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront. While we don’t know much about the spin-off just yet, knowing that two of the most deplorable characters are taking front and center, we’re intrigued to see how this plays out.

Vought Rising

Here’s what we do know about Vought Rising – it will be set in the 1950s and not only showcase Stormfront and Soldier Boy’s rise to Supe stardom but will also follow the beginnings of Vought International.

The news of The Boys branching into another off-shoot territory with Vought Rising came from the mouth of Aya Cash who appeared on the stage at the famed Hall H during the group’s hour-long panel. Jensen Ackles was also there, which obviously sent fans into quite a tizzy.

Stormfront

For those who may need a refresher on the latest series to come from The Boys universe, let’s start with Stormfront, shall we? Aya Cash’s character was first introduced in the flagship series’ second season and was, right off the bat, as terrible and corrupt as they come.

As the titular team of vigilantes found out more about Stormfront, they discovered that she was a raging racist, a storyline that will undoubtedly further play out in Vought Rising

Farewell Stormfront

By the end of The Boys Season 2, Stormfront was outed as a full-blown Nazi and was beaten within an inch of her life by Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), and Starlight (Erin Moriarty).

And, at the beginning of Season 3, she committed suicide from the privacy of her hospital bed. We can expect Vought Rising to give us some more background into the Adolf Hitler-loving character’s life – whether we want it or not.

Soldier Boy

When it comes to Soldier Boy, audiences were thrilled to find out that Jensen Ackles would be reuniting with The Boys creator Eric Kripke, as the pair previously teamed up on the long-running series Supernatural.

Introduced in Season 3, Soldier Boy had a long and not-so-friendly relationship with Vought after they sold him to the Russians who then conducted experiments on him. As the 1950s were Soldier Boy’s glory days, we can expect plenty of disturbingly funny antics to play out in Vought Rising.

Season 5 Of The Boys

The character made a brief cameo in Gen V but may also be returning to the world of The Boys foreshadowed by a mid-credit scene in the show’s Season 4 finale. In it, audiences watched as Homelander (Antony Starr) discovered that Soldier Boy (who just so happens to be Homelander’s father) wasn’t killed following the events of the Season 3 finale – he was just put on ice.

Where things go for the troubled father and son duo in Season 5 of The Boys remains to be seen but at least we know there will be more Soldier Boy in Vought Rising
