The Boys Season 4 Trailer Sees Homelander Right Where He Wants To Be
The trailer for Season 4 of The Boys dropped just recently, and the elevator scene, in which Homelander’s face is covered in blood, reveals that he’ll be worse, more bitter, and more ruthless in the upcoming season. According to Variety, the Homelander is just getting started.
We’ve seen grunting before, especially when things don’t go his way, like when Soldier Boy, Hughie, and Billy Butcher teamed up to take him down.
Homelander’s desire to exert control and dominance through manipulation and intimidation, as well as violence, seems to reach its peak in the upcoming The Boys Season 4. The aforementioned trailer is packed with easter eggs and story revelations while also promising even more shock and awe entertainment than the previous entries in the series. There’s certainly plenty to unpack from the recently dropped trailer, like the scene in which Homelander screams in frustration, implying that he’s about to do something horrible.
We’ve seen grunting before, especially when things don’t go his way, like when Soldier Boy, Hughie, and Billy Butcher teamed up to take him down. After all three had Homelander down on the ground, he grunted with rage before flying off. But seeing Homelander scream the way he did in The Boys Season 4 trailer isn’t something the fandom is very well acquainted with, as the scenes in which he’s consumed by blind fury aren’t so common, and they’re usually followed by plenty of unreasonable carnage.
We’ve seen Homelander angry and disappointed in those who have seemingly failed him, and we saw him dish out his version of just punishment for their transgressions, but this scream is something else entirely. The Boys Season 4 trailer goes on about panem et circenses and divide et impera, with Homelander learning politics and mass manipulation, and closes off with an end-scene in which he’s taking an elevator ride with blood and tissue dripping from his face.

None of that blood is actually his, and his lips curl into a proud, self-approving smile as the elevator door closes, hinting that he might’ve killed someone he truly despises. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t reveal any more information about the person Homelander ruthlessly killed in The Boys Season 4, so we’re likely going to have to wait for the season, which is on the heels of the Gen V Season 1 finale.
This is a rather interesting turn of events; Homelander was secretly harboring sociopathic tendencies, along with a lack of empathy and a desire for power and control, but those traits were somehwat hidden in the beginning of The Boys. That changed in Season 3 when he brutally killed a man in broad daylight, and his fans cheered for him instead of being surprised by his random act of violence, leading Homelander to realize that the non-supes would still blindly worship him, regardless of how the atrocities he might commit—in Season 4, perhaps.
As per the trailer, The Boys Season 4 is still “coming soon,” which means it doesn’t actually have a release date, though it’s expected to drop sometime in 2024. It’s set to star Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry.
