Terry Crews

Terry Crews has finally joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and honestly, what took so long? The man could have been perfect in any number of films or television shows under the MCU umbrella. What is most exciting about this announcement is that Crews is joining the rank of the fan-favorite Guardians of the Galaxy. However, the odd nature of the announcement is that his part will be reserved strictly for a theme park ride. The actor will take on the role of Centurion Tal Marik, a new character being introduced in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind rollercoaster. You can see the announcement below:

This new ride will be featured at Disney World and will be the first of its kind. While Disneyland and Disneyland Paris both have that Avengers Campus, which showcases many of the Marvel characters. However, based on a licensing agreement with Universal Studios, Disney cannot use most of the established Marvel characters east of the Mississippi River. This agreement is likely because Universal Studios Orlando and Disney World are neighbors. To exist in the same space, one cannot have the upper hand over the other. Marvel is certainly a huge pull. So, based on that, Terry Crews will suit up for the Guardians of the Galaxy ride as a brand-new and unestablished character.

The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride is going to be groundbreaking for many reasons. First, it will feature the MCU appearance of Terry Crews. Secondly, it is said to be one of the biggest indoor roller coasters in existence. Third, it will be the first-ever “reverse launch” rollercoaster at Disney World. Lastly, the ride will rotate in a full 360 degrees, so that the narrative of the ride can be viewed by all. This sounds to be like a fun rollercoaster that is meant to combine the wild nature of a ride but keep the MCU narrative of storytelling deeply embedded within it. There has not been any mention of how deep of a part Terry Crews will play in it, but he could be the main figure throughout the ride. He is meant to be the closes advisor to Nova Prime, who is portrayed by Glenn Close. This could mean that Close is going to appear in the ride and reprise her role for the upcoming film as well. It may not make sense to bring over Crews’ character to the film, but it could happen.

The new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open on May 27th. Fans at Disney World can go take in the sights, sounds, and crazy nature of Terry Crews in the MCU soon. His character might be introduced on a theme park ride, but this could mean that he could be further cemented in the Guardians of the Galaxy mythos when the new film comes out next year. Also, the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special is set to air this holiday season, so maybe Crews might find a more expanded role in that Disney+ film. Either way, it’s good to see the man finally break his way into the Marvel world.
