While iconic horror movie villains largely feel like a time that came and went in the ‘80s and ‘90s, we have still had the occasional reboot or sequel with characters like Michael Myers. However, as far as new serial killers in horror movies, we have not had a lot. Perhaps that is why so many people have enjoyed the throwback nature of the Terrifier franchise and are already excited from the recently released trailer for Terrifier 3.

WARNING! The following trailer includes graphiuc depictions of sex and violence.

Featuring the recurring killer Art the Clown, the Terrifier movies started out as a cult hit in the horror community back in 2016. However, as word of mouth spread, the franchise has now become one of the most eagerly anticipated horror franchises for new entries. And it looks like Terrifier 3 will not disappoint, as it will turn Christmas time into a horror scene.

Terrifier 3 hacks its way into theaters October 11.

The first trailer for Terrifier 3 shows Art the Clown continuing to stoke fear in his victims, this time donning the guise of Santa Claus to torment people.

The undertones of the trailer are especially sinister as unknowing children are seen flocking to Art in his Santa suit, not realizing the danger they are in.

One of the elements that commenters are already praising from the trailer for Terrifier 3 is the increased production values that show more of the violence that will be expected. One element of the original Terrifier that was commendable was the movie was made for only around $35,000. But that also obviously limits what a movie can do in terms of number of characters, locations, and effects.

2016’s Terrifier was made for only $35,000.

Terrifier 2 was a noticeable jump forward with a significantly enlarged budget of $250,000, making this the point when the franchise really started gaining traction.

But early reports for Terrifier 3 say the budget has now gone up yet again, this time to a more respectable $2 million. Many independent films have been made on similarly small budgets.

The trailer for Terrifier 3 also teases a few fun returns that fans can expect. Professional wrestler Chris Jericho with AEW made a cameo in the second film, and the trailer for the sequel reveals that he will be coming back.

Damien Leone, who has helmed all the Terrifier films, is already talking about Terrifier 4.

Despite the movie’s Christmas setting, Terrifier 3 will be releasing around Halloween of this year. Previous horror movies like Silent Night, Deadly Night have used Christmas time as a setting for scares and garnered quite a bit of controversy for releasing close to the holidays.

Perhaps Terrifier 3 sticking to the more traditional release window for horror movies is an effort to avoid any challenges for the small budget film.

Regardless, director Damien Leone seems to already have high expectations of Terrifier 3 being a success. He has made it clear that he is open to doing a fourth movie in the future.

The second movie made over $15 million against its budget of $250,000, so if that trend continues, it seems logical to expect the third entry to do well also.

The second movie made waves in 2022 for how violent it was, so it seems safe to say Terrifier 3 will be a movie that catches people’s notice as well. For fans of Art the Clown, they will be able to catch the movie in theaters October 11.
