Taylor Swift will not be appearing in the upcoming Deadpool 3, according to the man himself, Ryan Reynolds. Per Entertainment Tonight, Ryan Reynolds debunked the rumor that the pop singer would be showing up in the third movie in his mega-popular comic book movie series, though he also stated that he would be totally okay with her being in the movie. Specifically, Ryan Reynolds called Taylor Swift “a genius” and that he “would do anything for that woman,” though she will not be in Deadpool 3

The idea that Taylor Swift would be in Deadpool 3 has been floating around since September, when a teaser for the movie seemed familiar to the interesting Venn diagram overlap that is fans of both the “Shake It Off” singer and the Merc with the Mouth. It seems that the house in which Ryan Reynolds mopes around because he does not have any new ideas for his new movie, only to reveal Hugh Jackman casually agreeing to return as Wolverine is the same house featured in Taylor Swift’s acclaimed “All Too Well” short film.

The “All Too Well” short film featured Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, Teen Wolf (and potential Pirates of the Caribbean) star, and what turns out to be Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s home. Given that Taylor Swift is a close personal friend of the couple, that the Deadpool 3 teaser and the short film shared a location makes sense, but it was enough for Swifties to latch onto as a theory.

It is well-known that Taylor Swift devotees are among the most conspiracy- and Easter Egg-obsessed of fandoms, so it is not all that odd that the coincidence of a convenient shooting location being used for two different videos could end up becoming a Deadpool 3 rumor. However, unless Ryan Reynolds is just straight-up lying to everyone’s faces, it seems there will be no Taylor Swift cameo in Deadpool 3

However, Taylor Swift has seemed to be more interested in the world of film of late, so anything is possible. While the country-turned-pop star has only appeared in a few films, they have all been pretty notable productions: an adaptation of the science fiction classic The Giver, the much-derided film version of the Cats musical, and most recently, the massive Christian Bale-Margot Robbie period piece bomb Amsterdam. While she is certainly not responsible for the commercial underperformance of those films, maybe Marvel fans should be grateful Taylor Swift is not actually going to be in Deadpool 3.

However, she might be the only person in Hollywood who is not going to be in Deadpool 3. So far, we have reported that Tom Hiddleston (as Loki), Howard the Duck (as himself), Chris Hemsworth (as Thor), possibly Brad Pitt (as who knows), and possibly Patrick Stewart (probably as Professor Xavier, hopefully not getting his neck broken immediately). We also have word James Marsden and Halle Berry might be showing up, but no Taylor Swift. Shake it off, Swifties.
