Taylor Swift Getting Her Own College Course
If you’re a diehard Swiftie who also happens to be pursuing higher education, then you’ll be pleased to know that California’s UC Berkeley college will be offering a course on the legendary pop star, according to The Guardian. Taylor Swift is going to college, so to speak.
Artistry & Entrepreneurship: Taylor’s Version
The course, which is called Artistry & Entrepreneurship: Taylor’s Version, will be offered next spring, and will cover a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to: lyricism, branding, craft, and how art can be used to connect with the masses.
The class is being offered by Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and it goes without question that seats will fill up for this class faster than Swift’s concert tickets sell out.
Lectures, Readings, And Assignments
The Taylor Swift course, which will include interactive lectures, readings, and listening assignments, will last for a total of 13 weeks. For those of you who are up on your Taylor Swift lore, you know all too well that 13 is her lucky number, and she writes it on her hand before every single performance for good luck.
Taylor Swift’s Massive Success
Taylor Swift has established herself as not only the 23rd all-time best-selling artist across all genres but her impact on the music industry as a whole is unmatched by many of her contemporaries.
Not only does she know how to move units, but her business sense and creative influence are unparalleled, which makes the 33-year-old’s career an interesting case study.
As of this writing, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which has catapulted her into billionaire status, has dominated the box office, earning over $200 million since its October 13 premiere.
Mission Statement
The course syllabus has quite the mission statement, stating that students will “analyze performance and interview clips, discuss media portrayal and perceptions, and develop working definitions of [Taylor] Swift’s role in society.”
But it’s worth noting that the course will also place the pop icon under scrutiny, but “handle it beautifully.”
UC Berkeley Alumni Scholar Leadership Award recipient Crystal Haryanto will be teaching the course, and will co-teach the course with a current student; both of whom are massive Taylor Swift fans.
Other Taylor Swift Course Aspects
Just like Taylor Swift herself, the course load will be well-rounded, and boast a number of valuable lessons for diehard fans and aspiring entrepreneurs alike.
In other words, even though the class will focus on her artistic legacy, it will also place a strong emphasis on literature, economics, business, and sociology.
So even if you’re one of UC Berkeley’s resident metalheads, there will be plenty of valuable lessons that can provide value and insight into image-crafting, and creating meaning through your art or whatever career you may find yourself pursuing.
Taylor Swift’s Own Set Of Rules
Though many people in the world criticize pop music for being simplistic or derivative, it’s clear that highly successful artists like Taylor Swift are trailblazers who follow their own set of rules.
And if you’re hungry for success, you might want to take a couple of pages out of Taylor Swift’s playbook because she clearly has a deep connection with her fans.
What’s more, even her haters can’t stop talking about her, which just goes to show you that she’s not fading into obscurity any time soon, or ever.
Though it remains to be seen whether Taylor Swift will appear in Deadpool 3, at least we know that she’ll be prominently featured on the academic front next spring.
