While Sylvester Stallone has bid farewell to John Rambo, one of his most popular characters to date, the Rambo film series is living rent-free in the hearts of his fans. Though the films, apart from the first movie, were never high on the list of critic-favored features, the Rambo franchise continues to be a favorite of fans who would totally dig a sixth film in the series. Though that may or may not happen, we always have the option to re-binge all the existing films in the franchise. In fact, one of the most violent Rambo films has recently debuted on streaming and is already one of the top films on the platform.

Rambo: Last Blood, the fifth and perhaps the last film in the franchise, is available on IMDb free streaming and is currently occupying the #6 rank on the platform. The film starred Sylvester Stallone, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim aka Yenah Han, Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Joaquín Cosío, Pascacio Lopez, Rick Zingale, Manuel Uriza, Mirka Prieto, Óscar Jaenada, Fenessa Pineda, Marco de la O, Sheila Shah, Louis Mandylor, and Aaron Cohen. Released in 2019, the film takes place eleven years after the events of 2008’s Rambo.

The film sees Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo living in Bowie Arizona, looking after his late father’s ranch along with his old friend, Maria Beltran, and her granddaughter, Gabriela. When Gabriela sneaks off to Mexico to confront her biological father who abandoned her and goes missing, Rambo has no choice but to follow her trail. He soon discovers that after her father turned her away, Gabriela was kidnapped by the enforcers of the Mexican cartel. Rambo vows to free her and goes against the mighty cartel resulting in devastating consequences.

Upon release, Rambo V was massively panned for its over-reliance on violence, for having poor character arcs, and a below-average script. But as usual, Sylvester Stallone was unanimously praised for being the film’s saving grace with his soulful performance. While Last Blood failed to win the critics’ hearts, it was still a favorite of Stallone fans who found it to be a gritty action film with an intriguing plot done justice by its legendary protagonist. So, if you are one ardent Stallone loyalist, then you already know what to do next- binge the film on IMDb streaming!

Since Rambo V’s release and the rather concluding tone it gave to Sylvester Stallone’s characters, fans have been wondering whether there will be a sixth film in the series. While the film’s director, Adrian Grunberg has established that it “closes the circle” of Rambo’s turbulent life story, Stallone has teased the possibility of another film continuing the character’s journey. In a chat with JoBlo back in 2019, the actor had teased Rambo 6 and shared that the next time we see the franchise’s title character, he would possibly be in an Indian reservation as it is the only place where “he could go and heal, other than that he’s done.”

While the chances of Rambo 6 getting made are uncertain at the moment, there are many exciting projects that Sylvester Stallone is currently working on. His Balboa Productions is planning a biopic depicting the history of Jack “Galveston Giant” Johnson, the first African-American boxing heavyweight champion. At the moment, the actor is filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. wherein he will be reprising his role as Stakar Ogord.

This year will also see the actor play the role of a former superhero in Samaritan. Directed by Julius Avery, the film will see him as “famed superhero” who went missing after an epic battle twenty years ago. In a chat with Total Film, Avery shared that the upcoming film will see Sylvester Stallone “do things he hasn’t done in a long time, and in a really inventive way.” His future projects also include The Expendables 4, which will see him reprise his role as Barney Ross: the leader of the mercenary group, and a sequel to his 1993 sci-fi classic Demolition Man

Sylvester Stallone is also set to end his brief hiatus from the small screen and currently working on a number tv series. This includes the projects under his production house- Chuck Dixon’s Levon’s Trade and a series adaptation of Charles Sailor’s Second Son- as well as Paramount+’s Kansas City created by Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter, wherein he will be playing the character of a Mafia boss.
