Sylvester Stallone Returning To A Fan Favorite Role?
Sylvester Stallone is going to return as King Shark in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Sylvester Stallone has been in many iconic roles throughout his decades in Hollywood, but we would argue that one of his greatest roles is one in which he doesn’t need to speak that much to be quite entertaining. Yes, Stallone is set to be returning to the role of King Shark, but became a hugely fan-favorite character in James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad. When asked about returning as the famed shark god, he simply stated, “Yes, for sure.”
Sylvester Stallone also expanded on his answer by stating, “I think James has been very generous… He and I are pretty tight.” James Gunn also recently held a meeting with co-CEO of DC Films Peter Safran and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, where they discussed in length what the overarching plan for DC is now going to be. That said, we could finally be seeing DC pull itself out of the shadow of Marvel.
Sylvester Stallone is part of both DC and Marvel, as he also plays the leader of the Ravagers, Stakar Ogord. He will be reprising that role for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, now that Stallone has established his return as King Shark, we wonder what the movie might be that he returns in.
Idris Elba, who played Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad, had also teased that he was working on something big for DC. We could be seeing a Bloodsport series come out, in the same way in which Peacemaker also got his own series, which was been highly successful. Should Bloodsport get his own series, we might see King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) team up with Bloodsport, as both had quite a great relationship in Gunn’s movie. Another theory is that Gunn is working on The Suicide Squad 2, which would likely bring back Peacemaker, Bloodsport, King Shark, and Rat Catcher 2 in a new team.
Sylvester Stallone might have only had a few lines in the movie, but King Shark instantly became a hit, as the demigod was a bumbling force of nature. He was quite brutal though, as he was shown simply inhaling some mercenaries in a matter of seconds. However, if Vin Diesel can make Groot a star with only one line, King Shark can do the same with his subpar intelligence and big heart.
Sylvester Stallone does have a stacked schedule, as we would imagine so does James Gunn, so we are not sure when the pair will reunite again. However, we could be seeing more movement on the DC front now that Gunn is in charge of the creative aspect of DC Films. This new “10-year” plan might soon be revealed to the world and could look a bit like how Marvel showcases its releases in phases.
For now, we will have to wait patiently to see what James Gunn and Peter Safran are going to create for the new era of the DC Cinematic Universe. Hopefully, Sylvester Stallone’s return as King Shark is going to be in something like a short film, that shows his big heart and proclivity for violence. A King Shark series might be hard to do, considering the demigod doesn’t speak that much, or might not know how to.
