Sylvester Stallone’s Hit Series Becoming A Massive Television Franchise Of Shows?
Sylvester Stallone's Tulsa King series could become the next Yellowstone, by adding more spinoff shows to extend the universe.
Taylor Sheridan happens to be one of the best creators in the world of television, as he created Yellowstone, which has now produced four other spinoffs so far. Sylvester Stallone’s new hit series, Tulsa King, could now be doing the same. Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer, Paramount Streaming simply stated “The short answer is, absolutely,” when asked if Tulsa King could become the next Yellowstone.
Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King ended its first season less than a week ago on
January 8th and was already renewed back in November when the season first premiered. Paramount+ also stated that the Stallone series led to the “biggest sign-up day in Paramount+ history.” Although Stallone is quite busy in his current career, we would imagine he would be fully on board to star to appear in other spinoffs that were related to the mainline series.
Sylvester Stallone stars in Tulsa King, which follows a man named Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who has been exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Manfredi was once a big-time mobster for the Invernizzi crime family but is exiled when he is released from prison after 25 years. Once he arrives in Tulsa, he sets up his own crime syndicate with a bunch of nobodies that include stars Tyson (Jay Will), Armand “Manny” Truisi (Max Casella), Mitch Keller (Garrett Hedlund), and Bodhi (Martin Starr).
So far, Taylor Sheridan created Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, and Mayor of Kingstown, all of which have been highly successful for Paramount. A new deal could be struck between Sheridan and the media company, which would allow him to further expand the world of Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King. The way that Sheridan has been able to add to the lore of Yellowstone, he would likely do the exact same for the world of Tulsa King.
Granted, we would imagine that Sylvester Stallone’s earlier life would likely be the subject of a Tulsa King spinoff, and not go so far back in history as the Yellowstone spinoffs have. Then again, the decades and history of organized crime do go far back in history as well. Either way, we could be seeing an entirely different world under the umbrella of Tulsa King.
Another interesting place that would likely be shown is Sylvester Stallone in prison during those 25 years that is spoken about in Tulsa King. Spending 25 years in prison is certainly a long time, and we would imagine there was plenty that happened to Dwight “The General” Manfredi to be made into its own prequel series. We would certainly love to see someone take on the role of a younger Stallone, as de-aging him would not quite work in a full series.
Considering Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King just ended its first season, with the second being approved back in November, we are likely to see the second season air sometime in late 2023. We are not sure if and when a spinoff series would happen, but Paramount offering its vote of confidence to Taylor Sheridan, we would imagine that he is going to certainly be putting together something that extends the universe. Sheridan is also quite a busy man himself, but he might get together with Stallone to put together a road map for the new hit Paramount+ series.
