Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas Teaming Up For Survival Movie
According to a recent write-up from ComicBook.com, Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas are joining forces for the next Ron Howard-helmed blockbuster film. This one could be a pretty big production with major names, in addition to these two, already attached.
Roles In Eden
The film, which is titled Eden, was initially set to star Daisy Edgar-Jones and Alicia Vikander in the leading roles, though the pair have departed the project due to scheduling issues.
With the addition of The White Lotus‘ Sydney Sweeney and Mission Impossible‘s Vanessa Kirby to the cast which already includes Ana de Armas, Daniel Bruhl, and Jude Law, the survival thriller is sure to draw in massive audiences.
Eden Faced Strike-Related Delays
The upcoming Ron Howard film previously began production under the title Origin of Species, but saw delays this year due to the WGA and ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Luckily, with the WGA strike resolved, and the SAG-AFTRA union expected to receive a fair deal in the near future, the production can resume in Australia later this month.
The delay may have been a blessing in disguise for the film, however, as it allowed Howard to snag two of the biggest women in Hollywood right now with Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas.
Sydney Sweeney Recent Work
Sydney Sweeney is, of course, fresh off her massive roles in HBO projects such as Euphoria and The White Lotus, and currently slated to lead a number of massive upcoming blockbusters including Sony’s Madame Web, a reboot of the 1968 film Barbarella, and a romantic comedy titled Anyone But You alongside Top Gun: Maverick‘s Glen Powell.
Ana De Armas Roles
Ana de Armas has been hard at work in recent years as well, coming off such major projects as Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out, No Time To Die, and the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde. Ron Howard is also fresh off a prolific run of directorial outings, including Solo: A Star Wars Story, Hillbilly Elegy, and the Viggo Mortensen-led Thirteen Lives.
Eden In Works For Years
Hans Zimmer has also been tapped to provide an original score for the Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas-led film, which serves as a long-time passion project for Ron Howard.
Apparently, the filmmaker has been hard at work crafting the screenplay for Eden for well over a decade, recently partnering with Tetris scribe Noah Pink to produce a final shooting draft.
The film, which is said to provide a deep look into the human condition, takes place on a remote island within the Galapagos and follows an unsolved mystery full of unexpected, absurd, and thrilling twists.
Additional Eden Cast
Despite both Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas serving in some of Hollywood’s most sought-after roles, Eden marks the first time the women have appeared in a production together.
The film will surely prove to be a who’s who of massive star power with these powerful women in the leading roles, alongside a supporting cast of A-listers such as The Crown‘s Vanessa Kirby, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s Daniel Bruhl, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore‘s Jude Law.
With production on the film expected to begin very soon, there are sure to be more updates soon to follow.
