Superman: Legacy Casts The Perfect Jimmy Olsen
The team for Superman: Legacy is really picking up the pace now as The Hollywood Reporter has announced that The Righteous Gemstone’s star, Skyler Gisondo, has officially been tapped to play Jimmy Olsen.
The latest reveal to come from the James Gunn-helmed production, Gisondo’s casting comes shortly after the news that Renfield star Nicholas Hoult would play Lex Luthor. One character at a time, the film is gaining plenty of steam for it to take flight on July 11, 2025.
Skyler Gisondo’s Early Career
Though he’s appeared in a handful of films since the time he was a child, including voice roles in the Buddies franchise and as the younger brother of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it wasn’t until 2019’s Booksmart that Skyler Gisondo began to draw attention.
The young star joined the cast of a handful of other up-and-coming names in Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut that told the story of the final days of classes at a high school.

From there, Skyler Gisondo landed some bigger parts in titles including The Social Dilemma and the Academy Award-nominated feature, Licorice Pizza.
When it comes to his appearances on the small screen, Gisondo is most recognizable for his run on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet and HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones.
A series regular since the comedy’s first season, the second two seasons of The Righteous Gemstones have seen Gisondo’s character take on a bigger role.
Superman: Legacy Cast
As for the rest of the Superman: Legacy cast, Skyler Gisondo will be joined by David Corenswet (Pearl) as the titular hero and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) as Lois Lane.
As we mentioned at the top, Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) was recently announced to be the universe’s next Lex Luthor while María Gabriela De Faría was cast as the villain The Engineer.
Nathan Fillion (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) will also make an appearance in James Gunn’s film as Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern.
Jimmy Olsen In Superman
As innocent as he is eager to learn, Jimmy Olsen is a young man who works alongside Lois Lane and Clark Kent at the Daily Planet. Snapping pictures left and right, Jimmy is a photojournalist who looks up to his two older co-workers.
The perfect actor for the job, Skyler Gisondo has all the naivety yet drive to do right by the character.
Skyler Gisondo In Righteous Gemstones
Outside of his work on Superman: Legacy, Skyler Gisondo will be busy filming Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones. Starring alongside the likes of Danny McBride, Edi Patterson, John Goodman, and Adam DeVine, the young star appears in the comedy series about a morally corrupt family’s megachurch and their inner drama.
The tail end of last season saw Gisondo’s character ready to learn the ins and outs of preaching like his grandfather (Goodman), so the upcoming episodes will likely dig into that relationship more.

As of right now, audiences can expect to catch the ever-growing stacked cast of Superman: Legacy when it arrives in theaters on July 11, 2025. With Skyler Gisondo officially in the role of Jimmy Olsen, it’s only a matter of time until more beloved characters find their perfect actors.
