With the DC Universe going through a (nearly) full reset in their Gods and Monsters timeline under James Gunn, all new castings and characters are coming out of the woodwork as projects move forward.

And while we are quick to get excited about the heroes in this new world, sometimes the villains are just as interesting. Such is the case with the Supergirl movie which just cast it’s bad guy in the form of actor Matthias Schoenarts. He is set to play a lesser-known villain who could have a bigger role in the DC Universe as a whole.

Matthias Schoenarts Cast In Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

While the initial reporting doesn’t specify Matthias Schoenarts’ role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, conventional wisdom says that he’ll be playing Krem of the Yellow Hill. In the story, Krem of the Yellow Hill is an alien (not a Kryptonian) who Kara Zor-El and her friend Ruthye are hunting down.

Krem is responsible for the death of Ruthye’s father, and the latter is out for revenge. The story plays back and forth between this timeline and what happened before with Kara.

Krem of the Yellow Hill

Presumably, Matthias Schoenarts will play a version of Krem of the Yellow Hill, who has joined the Brigands, an ultra-violent group that purports all manner of genocide.

He’s able to secure the use of a Mordru Globe, which has powers even against someone like Supergirl. While Krem isn’t as powerful as many others in the DC Universe, he’s a scary character who has no issues with murder.

Whether James Gunn and DC take this character all the way remains to be seen, but the use of the Mordru Globe alone could spell interesting after-effects in the DC world.

We aren’t sure how Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow director Craig Gillespie will take the story or how close writers Otto Binder, Tom King, and Ana Nogueira kept things to the original comic book. Suffice it to say Matthias Schoenarts’s Krem of the Yellow Hill could feature in stories beyond just this movie.

And the Brigands, as a group could end up being a bigger problem than only this story.

Milly Alcock As Supergirl

In addition to Matthias Schoenarts as Krem, we already know the main casting as well. Milly Alcock is on as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl. Game of Thrones fans are already well acquainted with her work, having starred as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon.

At just 24 years old, Alcock will play a slightly younger version of the character than we saw in say, the Arrowverse series, and it’s more in line with the original comic book story.

Matthias Schoenarts Career

Before Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Matthias Schoenarts is best known for his role as a boxer in 2012s Rust and Bone opposite Marion Cotillard.

He won the César Award for Most Promising Actor for his part in the movie. But it’s going to be awhile before we see him in this film.

Other casting news isn’t even set and the film is slated for a June 2026 release date in theaters. Though Milly Alcock will make her DC debut before this happens.
