Stream Every Star Trek Movie For Free Right Now
Consumers often grumble (and rightfully so) about how we all “cut the cord” and left cable behind but now have to subscribe to so many expensive streamers just to see some decent films. What you may not realize, however, is that there is a growing number of ad-supported streaming services that offer great content at absolutely no cost. One such service is Paramount’s ad-supported Pluto TV, and for the month of August, you can use this service to stream all 13 Star Trek movies.
Star Trek: The Motion Pictures Channel On Pluto This Month
If you’ve never used Pluto TV before, you should know that the service splits its content into a mixture of on-demand programs and specialized live-stream channels. Some of these channels are organized only around a theme, like Pluto Comedy, and others are wildly specific, like The Addams Family Channel (it’s altogether ooky). And for this month only, Pluto will have a Star Trek: The Motion Pictures channel where you can stream all of the franchise’s movies.
Plenty More Where That Came From
While the special channel for Star Trek movies is only available for a limited time, Pluto TV has been the home for fans of this franchise for a very long time now. For example, the streamer previously changed its “More Star Trek” channel to one dedicated solely to playing old episodes of Voyager. And just so you’re not stuck in the Delta Quadrant, they more recently added a channel entirely dedicated to Deep Space Nine, and you can watch episodes of TOS and TNG on the regular Star Trek channel.
If Documentaries Are More Your Speed
If you somehow get sick of watching the various Star Trek movies and shows on Pluto TV, you can always dive even deeper into this famous franchise with some killer documentaries.
Right now, the documentary The Captains is available on demand, and this doc is great because it features William Shatner interviewing other famous Trek captains, including Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew.
Speaking of Shatner, Pluto TV also has his Chaos On the Bridge documentary (about the tumultuous early days of The Next Generation) as well as the fan-favorite documentary What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
The Final Frontier Of Streaming
As of this writing, the 13 Star Trek movies are also available on demand, as are selected episodes TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY. That basically allows fans two ways to consume their favorite content: watching ad-supported episodes and films from the beginning or watching them “live,” complete with commercial breaks.
The latter option may sound silly, but some fans like the nostalgic throwback (after all, this is how we originally watched these adventures), and others just like throwing Star Trek on in the background while they work.
Stream Me Up, Scotty!
Long story not very short, while Pluto TV has always been a great source of Star Trek content, you can only stream the entirety of the films for free through the end of August through the Star Trek: The Motion Pictures channel. Will you end up changing your mind about those odd-numbered films, or maybe discover that Star Trek Beyond is the best Kelvinverse film of them all?
The only way to find out is to grab some snacks, grab your remote, and use your best Kirk voice to give orders to the rest of the house: “stream me up, Scotty!”
