Stranger Things Star Teases Fan-Favorite Character Return
Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson stole all of his scenes in the most recent season of Stranger Things, and now it seems like there’s a possibility that he might return for the upcoming final season. At the premiere of his new film A Quiet Place: Day One, Quinn was asked if he thinks Eddie will come back, especially since fans have a feeling that he might. Quinn coyly replied, “I might have that feeling too,” before giving the caveat, “Or maybe I don’t.”
The Return Of Eddie Munson
Joseph Quinn might just be having some fun and teasing an Eddie Munson return that won’t happen, but the pieces are definitely in place for Eddie to come back. Those who saw the most recent season of Stranger Things will remember Eddie went out in the most epic way possible, playing “Master of Puppets” by Metallica in the Upside Down to distract a swarm of demobats. However, D&D lore, Eddie’s choice of song, and his final resting place all point to a very strong theory that fans have had since the season ended.
The Fan Theory
The theory is that Eddie Munson will return as a puppet of Vecna, which is something the Vecna character has done in Dungeons & Dragons. Also, the fact that Eddie played “Master of Puppets” would make this even more fitting. Of course, this would be tragic for the other Stranger Things characters, but it would also add even more personal stakes to the impending final battle.
Creaters Claim He’s Gone
Whether Eddie Munson returns in a dramatic way or simply through some flashbacks, fans are definitely wanting to see more of the character. Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, were quick to reiterate that Eddie was well and truly dead when pressed about it in interviews after the season ended. But, obviously, the creators aren’t going to show their hand regardless of what they have planned.
Joseph Quinn Is About To Explode
We may or may not get to see Eddie Munson return in Stranger Things, but fans of Joseph Quinn can look forward to seeing him in a different horror project this weekend. A Quiet Place: Day One opens this weekend in theaters and stars Quinn and Lupita Nyong’o as two NYC residents who must escape the city after aliens invade and start killing anything that makes a sound. The prequel film is the third in the franchise and sees Michael Sarnoski taking over the directing reins from franchise creator John Krasinski.
Joining The Marvel Universe
Joseph Quinn has quickly risen to superstardom after his memorable performance as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, so it’s no surprise that fans want him to return. Not only is Quinn starring in the blockbuster A Quiet Place prequel, but he’ll also star in his biggest role yet in the upcoming MCU film Fantastic Four. Quinn will play Johnny Storm/the Human Torch alongside Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Ralph Ineson as Galactus, and Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer.
As for Stranger Things Season 5, we don’t even know when the show is expected to return, much less if Eddie Munson will be a part of it. We may see it in early 2025, but those are just rumors for now. In the meantime, you can check out Joseph Quinn in A Quiet Place: Day One this weekend.
