Stranger Things Season 5 Is Saved
Now that the writers’ strike has finally come to an end after months on the picket lines, fans can prepare their ears for good news about their favorite shows and films. Of those anticipated titles, it’s been revealed that the folks behind Stranger Things Season 5 are back to work as the strike comes to an end. Now fans waiting on the final season of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series can finally begin to count down the days until the show’s return.
The morning after the writers’ strike ended, the Stranger Things writing team took to social media to let fans know they’re back at work on Season 5.
The news of the Stranger Things writers getting back to work on Season 5 came from the workers themselves, with their collective X (formerly Twitter) account posting an image to mark the occasion.
While it wasn’t a super informative one, with no information on what audiences can expect to be going down in Hawkins during the final season, the joyous post did say “We’re back,” teasing that things are up and running once again.
Season 5 Writing Halted By The Writers Strike
Production in the writers’ room for Stranger Things Season 5 came at an incredibly inopportune time as it was slated to get the ball rolling in May 2023. For those who have been following the historic WGA strike since its early days, you’ll know that the picketing kicked off on May 2, meaning that every scribe in the union had to put down their pens.
Along with the WGA announcing its plans to go on strike at that time, the Duffer Brothers also let Stranger Things audiences know that they’d be fully tapping the brakes until everything was resolved.
Now, 146 days later, we’re happy to see that Stranger Things Season 5 is back on with the writers getting back to work to bring us what will be the final installment in one of Netflix’s biggest shows yet.
The Actors Strike Still Delays Production
Still, the production will need to wait out the actors’ strike, which has been ongoing since July. With SAG-AFTRA still organizing in front of studio lots, the stars of the series, including Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, David Harbour, Natalie Dyer, Joe Keery, and more, won’t be able to start filming until everything is resolved.
Over the last four seasons, audiences have tuned in to watch the spooky and retro vibes of Stranger Things with Season 5 likely having no less action, drama, or comedy than we’re used to seeing.
Diving back into the Upside Down for one last brawl, the final season will see the gang of teens from Hawkins, Indiana try to find a way to strike down the big bad Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) once and for all. The main cast will be making a comeback and because previous seasons have introduced enticing characters such as Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson, we can expect the grand finale to be no different.
As of right now, Stranger Things Season 5 doesn’t have a release date, but with the writers back in action, fans are one step closer to exploring the Upside Down one final time. Just one of many productions to get back underway, keep your eyes peeled for similar announcements about other paused projects.
