Stranger Things Season 5 Recasting Character
Stranger Things Season 5 will see many familiar faces returning, but one role is being recast. A recent casting call was put out looking for a new actress to play Sara Hopper, the daughter of Jim Hopper. The casting call is looking for someone to step into the shoes of child actor Elle Graham who played the role back in season one.
Recasting Hopper’s Daughter
The Stranger Things Season 5 casting call explicitly listed the character role being cast. It included a physical description of the character and mentioned that the child actor would need to look similar to Elle Graham’s appearance in the show’s first season. While the character had limited screen time, it’s clear that the casting crew is looking for as much visual continuity as possible.
Sara Hopper’s return in Stranger Things Season 5 is a bit of a surprise, given that the character hasn’t appeared since the first season. The daughter of Jim Hopper, she died before the events of the show and has only ever been seen in flashbacks. She will likely once again appear in flashbacks, though the show’s supernatural premise could lead to something more involved like a psychic projection.
Actor Is Too Old For The Role
The reason Sara is being recast in Stranger Things Season 5 is a fairly obvious logistical problem, the character hasn’t aged but the actress has. Sara died as a child, meaning it wouldn’t make sense for the character to have aged since we last saw her back in Season 1. However, Elle Graham is now 15 years old making her too old for the role.
The casting call also revealed some minor production details for Stranger Things Season 5. It listed the role as lasting from October to December, giving fans a rough idea of the show’s shooting schedule. It also confirmed that the show will continue to be shot in Atlanta, Georgia which is where most of the show has been shot in previous seasons.
The Main Cast Returning
Despite the recasting news, fans should expect most of the cast, and all of the major actors to stay the same for Stranger Things Season 5. The show has an incredible cast of established character actors like Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Bret Gelman. Of course, its young cast also includes several breakout stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Natalia Dyer, and Maya Hawke.
The Final Season
Expectations are high for Stranger Things Season 5 as it will wrap up the hit Netflix show once and for all. The previous seasons set up a final confrontation between the supernatural threat Vecna and the inhabitants of Hawkins, which the finale will have to pay off. With eight episodes left, fans are eager to see how the Duffer Brothers conclude one of the biggest shows on Netflix.
A Hint At Hopper’s Fate?
While a final season recasting would usually be cause for concern, a small role like Sara Hopper’s shouldn’t impact the final season too much. Despite the character only having a minor role in the show’s plot, it makes sense for her to return in the final season given her importance to Jim Hopper’s character arc. Hopefully, Stranger Things Season 5 lives up to expectations and the recasting of Sara isn’t too jarring for fans who decide to binge the whole show.
