Stranger Things Season 5 Coming Sooner Than Expected?
Netflix's Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has said that Season 5 will begin filming this May.
Right on the heels of Nielsen’s announcement that Stranger Things was last year’s most-streamed show with its fourth season, we recently learned that Stranger Things Season 5 may be coming much sooner than expected.
According to Movie Web, series star Noah Schnapp revealed during an Instagram Live that Stranger Things Season 5 is scheduled to begin shooting this May. With that said, it’s possible we could see the show returning sometime in 2024.
Schnapp portrays Will Byers on the hit series, which has become a pop culture phenomenon over the years. In addition to telling his followers that Stranger Things Season 5 would begin filming in just a few short months, he indicated that his work on the sci-fi show wouldn’t interfere with his education. He is set to begin filming on Strangers Things Season 5 shortly after he finishes school.
The forthcoming season of Stranger Things will serve as the series’ final installment. The first season premiered on July 15, 2016, and the Matt and Ross Duffer created program completely and unexpectedly took the world by storm. Since the conclusion of the show’s most recent season, which ends with a massive cliffhanger, fans have had an appetite to consume any information related to Season 5 of the wildly popular series.
Shnapp’s character was noticeably sidelined in the show’s third and fourth seasons after having a prominent role early on in the series. Fortunately, the Duffer brothers have confirmed that Will Buyers will play an integral role in Stranger Things Season 5.
The bad news is that because the two creators have been so tight-lipped about the forthcoming season, we’ve been left in the dark as to how the character will play an essential part in the show’s conclusion.
Even though Schnapp’s character has very little screen time during the most recent season of Stranger Things, he has an interesting arc that has certainly got fans talking. Will seems almost envious of Mike and Eleven’s relationship, which suggests he has feelings for his best friend that go far beyond an ordinary friendship. It would be absolutely criminal for the Duffer Brothers not to further explore Will’s relationship with Mike in Season 5.
The fourth installment of Stranger Things definitely set the stage for a final showdown between our favorite heroes of Hawkins and the powerful and menacing Vecna. Still, there’s clearly quite a bit of story left to be told. To say we’re eager to see how each character’s story concludes in Season 5 is a complete understatement.
Aside from the obvious return of the show’s main cast, details for Stranger Things Season 5 remain extremely scarce. Thanks to a tweet from the writers’ account for the show, we do know that writing for the forthcoming season began on August 2, 2022. It was also confirmed that the first episode of the fifth installment is titled “The Crawl,” but other than that, we have no idea where the Duffer Brothers intend to go with the series.
Thankfully, unlike the agonizing wait between Stranger Things Seasons 3 and 4, the Duffer Brothers have reassured us that we won’t have to wait three years for Season 5. If filming on the new season does indeed begin this May, it’s entirely possible we could see it premiere sometime next summer. In the meantime, you can stream the first four seasons of the wildly popular series on Netflix.
