Stranger Thing Season 4 has debuted and is already pulling in massive numbers. The new season is set to become the highest viewed English-language series on Netflix. However, though it seems that everyone is enjoying the show as they once did, there are some issues that have plagued the newest entry. One of those issues has to do with the elongated episodes, which isn’t too terrible for some people. The other happens to be that the children have grown up quite a bit. The age gap has yet to be addressed and the Duffer Brothers are going to rectify that in Stranger Things Season 5.
The covid restrictions that left the long gap between the third and fourth season of Stranger Things left the children looking a lot more grown-up. However, they are meant to still be a certain age in the series, though that is not the case for the real-life actors. Based on season four taking so long to make, there is a strong chance we won’t be seeing Stranger Things Season 5 unit around 2024. If that is the case, the Duffer Brothers plan to use a time jump to ensure the kids are no longer seen as kids in the series. According to Ross Duffer, “I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we’d have shot [Seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we’re going to have with our writers when we start the room up … Believe it or not, we’re still working on Season 4.”
As previously mentioned, the episodes on this new season are super long, and the finale that debuts on July 1st is said to be 2 and a half hours long. So naturally, it is taking some more time for the Duffer Brothers to finish this ambitious fourth season. At least they have a plan for Stranger Things Season 5. The kids will certainly be even more grown-up by the time the series is underway, and the exposition in the show will have to address that fact.
There has been added pressure on the Duffer Brothers to finish this fourth season, which is Stranger Things Season 5 might take some time to get to. According to Matt Duffer, “The ending is the hard thing. That’s obviously the stressful thing. We really want to stick the landing.” He was referring to all they have learned from working with new actors and the ones who have been with the series since the beginning. There has been much more added effort considering most of the episodes have been in the 1-hour and 20-minute range. Also, that finale is surely going to take some time to complete, which is why it won’t be coming out until July 1st.
Whatever the case is, the Duffer Brothers should be quite happy with what they have already produced. The newest season of Stranger Things has been fantastic, and the numbers don’t lie. The series is set to take the #1 spot for English-language shows on the streaming platform, which is nothing to scoff at. Although Stranger Things Season 5 is going to be the last for the series, the Duffer Brothers can be happy with what they have already put out. The show has only gotten better as it’s gone along. We can’t wait to see what comes next in the finale on July 1st, and the final season whenever it airs. The time jump will just show a much older and hopefully more seasoned group of teens who can finally vanquish the upside-down.
