Stranger Things season 4 has rightly been receiving heaps of praise in recent times. However, one particular cast member of the blockbuster Netflix series has found himself in a bit of hot water. Comic Book reports that a member of the ensemble cast of Stranger Things is getting called out on social media.

The cast member who has landed himself in a socially awkward situation is one Noah Schnapp, famed for portraying Will Byers on Stranger Thingsa character that has been a part of the science-fiction mega-hit since it premiered for the first time on Netflix in 2016. Schnapp has drawn the unwanted negative attention from one Doja Cat, the superstar R&B singer/songwriter. How did the beef begin? Well, another Comic Book report brought attention to when Noah Schnapp shared a video on his TikTok captioned “thirsty doja.” The video showed Doja Cat sliding into Schnapp’s DMs asking if she could be set up with Stranger Things season 4 breakout star Joeseph Quinn, who portrays the Dungeons and Dragons loving, Metallica shredding Eddie Munson. Now, Doja Cat wasn’t too happy to see a personal and private conversation shared by Schnapp on TikTok for millions to see. Doja Cat took to Instagram Live to call out Schnapp, judging his behaviour to be “unbelievably socially unaware and wack. That’s like borderline snake s**t.”

It is worth noting like many of the Stranger Things cast, Noah Schnapp is on the young side, just 17 and this is something that Doja Cat did indeed address in her social media retort to the young actor’s antics, and acknowledged that someone as young as he is prone to such mistakes. Hopefully, Schnapp has learnt from this mishap, given that his TikTok has now been deleted, perhaps he already has. However, Buzzfeed has reported several fans across social media who have questioned Doja Cat’s part in the matter and whether it is appropriate that the singer, who is 26, is asking a 17-year-old minor to set her up with someone.

The jury is out on who is most right or wrong in the Schnapp/Doja Cat saga, but what is the story of Joseph Quinn, the Stranger Things season 4 sensation that has unwittingly been the catalyst for these awkward events? The Los Angeles Times charts the British Actor’s rise to fame. Quinn, 29, got his breakout role in the BBC’s drama Dickensian in 2015, before landing roles in HBO’s Game of Thrones, BBC’s Les Miserables and Steve McQueen’s Small Axe among many others before winding up on Stranger Things and becoming a fan favourite and sought-after companion to the likes of Doja Cat.

Joseph Quinn’s most notable scene in the fourth season of Stranger Things was his guitar playing along to Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” to help save Dustin from Demobats in the Upside Down. That scene has also caused social angst, with age-old Metallica fans not happy with Stranger Things newbies taking a liking to the band’s output, to which the band itself responded by saying: “all are welcome.” That scene did wonders for Joseph Quinn’s career and it is more than likely he will now go on to great things. However, “great” will probably not be the status of Noah Schnapp and Doja Cat’s friendship at this time.
