Stranger Things Fan-Favorite Character Not Returning For Season 5
As fans of the show anxiously await the arrival of Stranger Things Season 5 on their Netflix watchlist, news about a popular character’s omission from the new episodes is surfacing. Sadly, Jonathan Byers’ best friend, Argyle (played by Eduardo Franco), is not expected to return for the fifth and final season of the hit show.
In an interview on the Steve Varley Show on YouTube, Eduardo Franco was asked directly about whether or not he would be returning to the show for the fifth season. He responded by saying, “It’s nice to hear that there’s, there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something … But … I never got a phone call”.
To jog your memory, Eduardo Franco’s character in the fourth season, Argyle, was a long-haired hippie kid who worked at Surfer Boy Pizza as a delivery boy. He and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) became besties when Jonathan and the Byers family moved to Lenora Hills, California at the end of the third season.
Eduardo Franco was a staple character throughout the fourth season of Stranger Things, and fans quickly grew to love his comedic addition to the show. Argyle came through for the group on several occasions during the progression of last season, and fans had grown accustomed to his presence with the motley crew of kids.

Eduardo Franco on his future in Stranger Things
The Stranger Things saga began in 2016 when season one of the show was released. Fans have patiently awaited each season’s return year after year for nearly eight years, and the wait for the final season has been the longest.
Season 5 of Stranger Things was supposed to be available by now, but the writer strikes chronically delayed the development of the show. Now, Season 5 of Stranger Things is finally in the works, and an image released by Netflix revealed a cast picture that didn’t include Eduardo Franco (the actor who played Argyle in the fourth season of Stranger Things).

The role of Argyle was pivotal for Eduardo Franco as an actor. His career really took off after the visibility he gained from being a part of the Stranger Things cast. Though he began working in television and film nearly a decade ago, Franco is now a recognizable face to millions of fans worldwide.
Eduardo Franco’s initial involvement with Stranger Things was to audition for the role of Eddie Munson. Munson (played by Joseph Quinn) was an epic addition to the cast of the fourth season of Stranger Things. The long-haired, hard rockin’, leader of the Hellfire Club Dungeons and Dragons team.
Eddie Munson immortalized his character when he played Metalica’s Master of Puppets on his electric guitar loud enough to distract Vecna’s swarm of Demobats so the others would have time to launch an assault at the Creel House. Unfortunately, it ended in Eddie’s death, but his final scene is nothing less than epic.

Seeing how the two roles played out, it feels like casting got it right when they chose Eduardo Franco for the role of Argyle and Joseph Quinn for the role of Eddie Munson.
Regardless, Argyle will certainly be missed in the fifth and final season of the series. You can find the first four seasons of Stranger Things streaming on Netflix, and the fifth season will likely be available sometime next year.
