Stephen Amell Reveals The Worst Arrow Scene To Shoot
Arrow star Stephen Amell has revealed which scene in the popular DC superhero show was the most harrowing to shoot. Speaking at Seattle’s EmSerald City Comic Con, Amell, along with series co-stars Colton Haynes and Juliana Harkavy, the actor recalled (with the help of Harkavy) that standing in a vat of oatmeal for three days was the worst.
“That was the only time I threw the gauntlet down on set. I was like, ‘Guys, this is enough,'” Stephen Amell told the crowd.
“I’m going to barf okay, and then David Ramsey’s going to barf and then we’re both going to barf on each other. You guys get one more take in this setup, and then you get two takes on the next setup, and we’re done.”
Check out what Stephen Amell had to say about the situation:
Arrow premiered on The CW network in October 2012 and ran for eight seasons. Created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, the show is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. The series follows Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), a billionaire playboy who becomes stranded on a remote island for five years after a shipwreck.

While on the island, Oliver (Stephen Amell) undergoes intense training and learns survival skills. Upon his return to Starling City, Oliver decides to use his newfound skills to fight crime and corruption, adopting the vigilante persona, The Hood. His mother, Moira (Susanna Thompson), half-sister Thea (Willa Holland), and friend, Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell), appear frequently in Season 1.
Along with Stephen Amell’s titular hero, other characters of note include former bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey), who is the first person to become Oliver’s ally and confidant in his crime-fighting endeavors. Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), who was introduced as a supporting character, eventually becomes a key member of Oliver’s team and a love interest.
While Season 1 focuses on Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) homecoming and his mission to clean up the corruption plaguing the city, Season 2 introduces Slade Wilson/Deathstroke as the main antagonist and explores Oliver’s past on the island. Season 3 introduces Ra’s al Ghul and the League of Assassins, with Season 4 featuring a supernatural conflict with Damien Darhk.

Arrow Season 5 features a complex storyline involving a group of deadly assassins known as the Prometheus, while Season 6 brings in a new threat called Cayden James. Season 7 introduces a prison storyline and explores the concept of vigilantism and justice. The eighth and final season of the Stephen Amell-led series sees Oliver making the ultimate sacrifice to save the multiverse.
Arrow was part of the Arrowverse, a shared universe with other DC Comics-based television series that included The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. The series actively participated in crossover events, including Invasion!, Crisis on Earth-X, and Elseworlds. The series was praised for its action sequences, character development, and the overall tone.
After Arrow ended, Stephen Amell has been involved in various projects. He reprised his role as Oliver Queen in The Flash Season 9 as The Spectre, protecting the multiverse from threats. He also starred in the drama series Heels as pro-wrestler Jack Spade. Despite receiving positive reviews, the series was canceled after two seasons.
Most recently, Stephen Amell has been cast as Ted Black in the highly anticipated Suits: LA. His character is described as “a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others.” The series is a spinoff of the USA Network show Suits, which ran from 2011 to 2019. Production on the new show begins in Vancouver, Canada in March.
