Stephen Amell’s New Show Puts Season 1 Up To Stream For Free, Watch Here
The first season of Stephen Amell's series Heels is streaming for free on YouTube.
The Stephen Amell-starring wrestling drama Heels just made its first season available to watch for free on YouTube, just in time for the upcoming second season. If you missed the 2021 season, which was previously only available on Starz, now is the perfect time to catch up. The show’s first season got fantastic reviews, so it’s well worth checking out whether you’re a fan of wrestling or not.
Stephen Amell’s role as Jack Spade in Heels was the first big leading TV role announced outside of his performances as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in Arrow career and the CW DC universe. The show follows two brothers in the world of pro wrestling, one who is a “heel” or villain and one who is a “face” or hero, as they fight over their late father’s wrestling league in Georgia. Amell plays the older brother Jack, who plays the heel, and Alexander Ludwig plays Ace, the hero.
Stephen Amell’s casting in Heels was pitch-perfect since the actor was a noted wrestling fan and eventually took his fandom to the professional level when he appeared on WWE Raw to tag team Stardust and King Barrett with Neville at SummerSlam. Amell would participate in several other pro wrestling matches at Ring of Honor, All In, and All Elite Wrestling. Amell’s experience and training in professional wrestling no doubt played a part in the quality and authenticity of Heels.
Along with Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, Heels stars Alison Luff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison, Roxton Garcia, Chris Bauer, and David James Elliott, with Mike O’Malley as showrunner. Michael Waldron, best known for his work on Rick & Morty and creating the MCU‘s Loki series, created Heels. Waldron is also on board to write the massive upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Secret Wars.
Stephen Amell is best known for his work on the CW, where he played Oliver Queen on Arrow from 2012 to 2020 over the course of 169 episodes. Amell would also make appearances in other CW DC shows such as The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman. His most recent appearance, and likely his last, as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow was in the 2023 season of The Flash.
With Stephen Amell’s DC career now seemingly done with for good, it’s good to see him following it up with a critically acclaimed show that plays to his strengths. Heels has a whopping 96% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% approval rating from audiences for the first season. Hopefully, the second season is the same level of quality as the first.
It seems like the second season of the series is set to continue the heated rivalry between Stephen Amell’s Jack and Alexander Ludwig’s Ace. The trailer for the second season of Heels already dropped, and it seems like their problems are only going to grow as their Duffy Wrestling League’s popularity grows and the frontman of the rival promotion Florida Wrestling Dystopia further complicates things. Make sure to catch up on the first season for free now so you’re ready when the second season premieres on July 28.
