The Star Trek Heroes Most Likely To Survive Predator
Who in the ranks of Star Trek’s heroes could survive one of the Predator films? It doesn’t look good for most of them, but after devouring all of the TV series and films from both franchises, I think there are ten heroes from all over the universe Gene Roddenberry built who could prove themselves more than prey in Predators’ hunting grounds.
Worf (Michael Dorn)
It’s the obvious choice, sure, but it’s obvious for a reason. The Klingon who made his debut in Star Trek: The Next Generation has a better chance than most at surviving a Predator hunt, with one caveat—it would have to be a post-TNG Worf, because if the hunt took place during the events of TNG Worf would be the first to get taken out (because he always was).
Worf would have a better chance than most not just because of his already displayed battle prowess but because out of all the other Trek heroes on this list, he has the most experience fighting the Jem’Hadar—Star Trek villains who, very much like Predator, are strong, fast, live to kill, and can cloak themselves at will.
Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner)
The most legendary captain in Star Trek, Captain Kirk, is not getting taken out by a Predator. Well, not unless the Predator has a bridge he could drop on him.
In all seriousness, I imagine that if he were to encounter Predator, Kirk would be the final survivor in a sea of redshirts. Then—at full volume while his torn shirt is hanging off of him—he’d make an impassioned speech convincing the Predator to come out of hiding and fight him hand-to-hand.
Then either Kirk would take him out with those karate chops, or he’d have an exploding tricorder or something up his sleeve.
The Doctor (Robert Picardo)
Out of every regular character in every Star Trek show, The Doctor might just be the absolute bane of Predator.
On one hand, unless The Doctor is outside his ship and the Predator destroys his mobile emitter, there’s no way for the hunter to hurt him.
On the other hand, how would the Predator even see The Doctor? He’s a hologram. No heat for ol’ crab-face to detect.
Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh)
If there is any one morally neutral word I had to pick to describe Emperor Philippa Georgiou, it’s “resourceful.” The lead of the upcoming Star Trek: Section 31 would take out the Predator, figure a way for someone else to take out the Predator, or she’d escape. She’s already survived so much, no crab-face trophy hunter is going to get her.
Data (Brent Spiner)
Data’s status as one of the strongest, fastest, and smartest characters in Star Trek speaks for itself—Predators, look out.
And even if they did kill him well… he came back to life two other times, I’m sure a third time wouldn’t cost much more.
Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome)
If anyone from Star Trek: Lower Decks could take out a Predator, it’s Beckett Mariner. Her ability to physically dominate pretty much everyone else in the show speaks for itself.
FYI, I considered adding the Bajoran bad*ss Shaxs to the list, but upon reflection I decided he’d be the Jesse Ventura of the Cerritos and wind up as one of the first killed. He’d be resurrected of course (again), but he’d definitely get killed.
Odo (Rene Auberjonois)
One of the most interesting characters in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Odo is also powerful enough that he would definitely be one of the toughest Trek heroes for a Predator to kill.
First, the Predator would have to find him, and since the Changeling could change himself to anything from a bunny to a rock to a blade of grass, finding Odo wouldn’t be as simple as scanning the forest with infra-red.
Considering both his physical strength and his power to turn any part of his body into a lethal weapon, if Odo gets within striking distance of a Predator without the hunter noticing him, that’s it—they’re done.
Saru (Doug Jones)
Saru is my most reluctant addition to this list. As “Action Saru,” the Star Trek: Discovery hero certainly has the strength and speed to take on a Predator physically.
Yes, we eventually learn Kelpiens are actually the alpha predators of their world, but is Saru tuned in enough to that primal part of himself to not only physically challenge a Predator hunter, but to both hide from it and turn the hunter into the hunted?
He could rise to the challenge, the only question is would he?
Murf (Dee Bradley Baker)
A Mellanoid slime worm of few words, Star Trek: Prodigy‘s Murf would be a huge challenge for a Predator. Not only does he eventually prove himself to be a powerful foe in combat, but his malleable form makes him particularly tough to kill or even wound.
Seven Of Nine (Jeri Ryan)
Like some others, there is a caveat regarding Star Trek’s Seven of Nine’s potential in surviving an encounter with a Predator—namely, that it is the older, more weathered version in Star Trek: Picard who has the best chance of defeating one of the spaceborne hunters.
While she always had abilities that could help her in combat, it isn’t until after her time in the Fenris Rangers that she gains the fierceness and cunning that could challenge a Predator.
