The X/ Twitter post featured images of the mixing board and key members of the production team, including director Ben Hibon, composer Nami Melumad, and co-executive producer Aaron Waltke.

In the accompanying caption, the Hagemans highlighted the dedication that went into crafting Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2, noting that five years of their lives were devoted to the series.

“We could not be more proud of the work from our amazing team. May this series inspire and welcome all into the Star Trek Universe,” they wrote.

Fans of the series were also reminded to mark their calendars for Christmas Day, as Netflix is set to stream all 20 episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1, offering an opportunity to relive the initial adventure that captured audiences’ imaginations.

The animated series had been temporarily unavailable for streaming since its removal from Paramount+ in June.

Second And Third Seasons

However, CBS Studios, in collaboration with Nickelodeon, quickly assured fans that work on the second season would continue as they sought a new platform for Star Trek: Prodigy.

Writing for the second season was completed in early 2022. Despite the temporary setback of the show being dropped by Paramount+ in the summer of 2023, most of the voice work and animation had already been completed.

Netflix’s acquisition of the show in October signaled a new chapter for Star Trek: Prodigy, with anticipation building for its debut on the streaming giant in 2024.

While details on the release format for the second season are yet to be disclosed, fans are hopeful for a seamless continuation of the series. Aaron Waltke is optimistic about the show’s future and hinting at more episodes on social media.

No Official Release Date

In a previous interview with Trek Movie, Waltke clarified that the removal of Star Trek: Prodigy from Paramount+ did not equate to cancellation, emphasizing that there was nothing preventing the team from creating additional seasons.

Kevin Hageman echoed this sentiment at the STLV convention in August, where he expressed a desire for the show to be picked up for a third season.

“My master hope is that I want the show picked up. I want a Season 3,” Hageman told the publication. “I want Season 3 to set up an animated film series.”

Star Trek: Prodigy does not yet have an official release date. However, fans are hopeful that some information will be released when Season 1 hits Netflix on December 25.

Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 teaser was released earlier this year. The clip featured the reappearance of Robert Picardo as The Doctor.

In the upcoming installment, The Doctor assumes the responsibility of overseeing the previous crew of the USS Protostar as they unite with Admiral Janeway on the USS Voyager-A. Together, they embark on a mission to locate Chakotay.

Star Trek: Prodigy, an animated science series set in the Star Trek universe, premiered on Paramount+ in 2021. The show follows a group of alien teenagers who stumble upon an abandoned Starfleet ship called the U.S.S. Protostar.

Despite their lack of Starfleet training, they decide to commandeer the ship with the help of a holographic Captain Janeway.
