Star Trek And Doctor Who Are Teaming Up For Comic-Con
Star Trek and Doctor Who are two of the most iconic and longest-running sci-fi franchises of all time, and now they’re teaming up for the first Intergalactic Friendship Day at San Diego Comic-Con. The event happens at the same time as International Friendship, and the collaboration will be displayed in the “Friendship is Universal” gallery experience in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter throughout San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The gallery experience lets fans browse props and costumes from both franchises.
Intergalactic Friendship Day
On top of the gallery experience, Star Trek TV head Alex Kurtzman and Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies are appearing together on the Intergalactic Friendship Day panel, which happens on Friday, July 27. The panel is moderated by TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett and will include questions and discussions with Kurtzman and Davies about their experiences in the respective franchises. Of course, there will also be plenty of representation of both franchises separately at San Diego Comic-Con.
Special Prodigy Panel
Both Star Trek and Doctor Who have big panels that fans won’t want to miss if they’re attending San Diego Comic-Con. Paramount+ has a huge panel in Hall H on Saturday, July 27, where the streamer will present the latest news on projects like Star Trek: Section 31, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Star Trek: Academy, presumably with some surprise appearances as Comic-Con always seems to have.
CBS is also having a panel on Sunday for the Star Trek: Prodigy animated series that includes a special screening and an appearance from Kate Mulgrew, who plays Captain Kathryn Janeway.
The Doctor Who Panel
While it doesn’t have as many panels as Star Trek, the Doctor Who panel on Friday will feature appearances from current Doctor and star Ncuti Gatwa, Millie Gibson, who plays Ruby Sunday, and showrunner Russell T Davies. Fans of both franchises will have quite a bit to look forward to during Comic-Con weekend. Also, those who attend the Intergalactic Friendship Day creator conversation panel between Russell T Davies and Alex Kurtzman will get a special Doctor Who x Star Trek poster designed by Dusty Abell, making the event even more of a must-see.
