Star Trek About To Cancel Another Series?

After watching an episode of The Ready Room, a Star Trek fan noticed something strange that could indicate that the intergalactic franchise is about to cancel another series… or maybe even several more series. The Ready Room is an aftershow on Paramount+ that discusses the Star Trek franchise.

After a recent episode, a fan noticed that the ad promoting current Star Trek shows was missing a couple from the list, most prominently Lower Decks, Enterprise, and Strange New Worlds—does this mean Paramount is getting rid of these shows?

The picture shown in the tweet above shows that the folks over at Paramount+ left off quite a few Star Trek series, does this mean that Paramount is no longer promoting shows like Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds because they anticipate canceling the series?

Recently, three Star Trek shows have been given the boot. Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Discovery were both canceled and while Picard wasn’t canceled, the series did conclude earlier than fans would have liked.

An ad from Paramount’s The Ready Room featuring streamable Star Trek shows left off Lower Decks, leaving some fans worried that the show is in trouble.

With three shows concluding back to back, fans are beginning to worry about other franchise spin-offs and are wondering if any of Star Trek’s content is safe.

Not necessarily. Both Discovery and Picard were included in the list, even though these shows have been canceled or concluded.

Additionally, according to Variety, both Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks were renewed for new seasons last March.

According to the trade, Paramount plans on bringing back Strange New Worlds for Season 3 and Lower Decks for Season 5. Both shows are planned to include 10 episodes.

Also, both of these series have their current season released this summer, with Strange New Worlds Season 2 already released earlier this month. What’s even more exciting is that Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are expected to feature a crossover.

This special episode, set to air during Season 2 of Strange New Worlds, will seamlessly blend live-action and animation with Lower Decks stars Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid making appearances in the episode while the episode will be directed by Jonathan Frakes.

Star Trek: Lower Decks

With Paramount in the middle of charting a new course for Star Trek and the future of the franchise, it makes sense that fans would be weary of unexpected cancelations. But, as it turns out, there is likely nothing to worry about when it comes to Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds.

In fact, as Twitter user Connie Winch pointed out, the absence of these titles at the end of The Ready Room is likely because they weren’t discussed during this particular episode of the aftershow.

According to Winch, it’s common practice for The Ready Room only to promote Star Trek properties that were discussed in the episode and leave out the ones that weren’t.

So, while fans are understandably concerned about the future of Star Trek while Paramount is pivoting, shows like Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are likely safe. At least for now.
