Spy x Family Season 2 Release Date Announced
Crunchyroll announced that anime series Spy x Family will see its season 2 premiere on October 7. Not only will we see season 2 of the manga adaptation in less than a month, but Wit Studio and CloverWorks — the studios behind the series — have announced that the Spy x Family Code: White movie is slated for a theatrical release in Japan on December 22.
Spy x Family Season 2 will premiere on Crunchyroll October 7.
Though season 2 will be written by Ichirō Ōkouchi instead of Kazuhiro Furuhashi, who wrote the first season, the remaining staff and cast will be reprising their roles.
Season 1 of Spy x Family currently boasts a 100 percent critical score against an audience score of 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating universal appeal, and we can only hope to see more of the same with its second season premiere. Season 1, which can currently be viewed on Hulu, was split into a 12 episode run that started in April 2022, and a 13 episode run that kicked off last October.
While the details for season 2 haven’t been made clear at the time of this writing, we can reasonably expect a similar kind of release schedule for the upcoming season.
Spy x Family is a comedy spy action series that centers on the life of master spy, Twilight. He is tasked with disguising himself as a psychiatrist so he can infiltrate an elite private school and investigate a high-profile political leader named Donovan Desmond.
While neither Twilight nor Yor have not revealed their identities to each other in Spy x Family, their adopted daughter Anya has telepathic abilities and knows who they really are.
By taking on the identity of a family man, Twilight’s mission should be pretty cut and dry as long as he maintains a low profile.
But to complicate matters, Twilight, who is posing under the alias of Loid Forger, doesn’t know that his wife Yor has a secret identity of her own. Yor is a secret assassin known as the Thorn Princess.

Spy x Family has been praised for its heartfelt delivery as well as its sense of humor. The duplicitous nature of the series’ characters highlights the family bond that they have formed, but also illustrates the delicate balance that must be sustained if Twilight wants to accomplish his mission successfully.
Throw some secret spy action into the mix, and you have a series that takes the tried-and-true spy thriller tropes that we’re all familiar with, and heightens them in the only way that cartoon logic can deliver.

Given that Spy x Family is a Japanese series, episodes for season 2 will first air on the TXN Network (TV Tokyo), but will be available stateside through Hulu after each episode premieres. If you’re unfamiliar with the series but are interested in its lore, you can most certainly binge-watch the first season to get caught up with the storytelling. And once you’re caught up, you only have to wait until December 22 for Spy × Family Code: White to make its theatrical premiere in Japan.
