Game Of Thrones Reunion Between Show Siblings In New Gothic Horror
According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are poised to share the screen together again for the first time since Game of Thrones concluded in 2019. The pair are both slated to appear in the gothic horror film The Dreadful, helmed by V/H/S/85‘s Natasha Kermani. The film is set within the era of the War of the Roses, which is quite ironic, as the period in British history serves as a major influence on George R.R. Martin’s writing in the Song of Ice and Fire book series, upon which Game of Thrones is based.
Last Seen In Game Of Thrones
When audiences last saw Sophie Turner and Kit Harington share the screen, it was in the final moments of Game of Thrones‘ explosive and divisive series finale in May of 2019. The central characters served as two of the only members of the sprawling cast to make it all the way to the end of the series still alive, albeit in very different social statuses. Turner’s Sansa Stark ends the show on a high note, seceding her Northern territory of Winterfell from the Seven Kingdoms and ruling as the Queen in the North, while Harington’s John Snow ventures North of the wall to begin a lifelong banishment among the wildlings.
Sophie Turner and Kit Harington portrayed cousins in the series, though most of the show saw them laboring under the delusion that they were half-siblings, due to a complex web of politics which led to John Snow’s identity being concealed at birth.
Different Roles In The Dreadful
In The Dreadful, the pair are expected to take on drastically different roles, per the limited plot information available to the public at this time.
Turner is cast to portray Anne, a women who lives with her mother in law on the outskirts of society, quietly remaining out of the spotlight. In addition to starring in The Dreadful, Turner is attached as a producer on the film, along with Greg Lauritano, Luke Daniels, Patrick Hibler, and Patrick Muldoon.
Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are expected to cross paths early on within the narrative. Harington is set to play a man who returns to the family and sets off an inciting incident.
Sophie Turner Since Thrones
In the years since Game of Thrones concluded, both actors have gone on to appear in a number of popular projects, though they have not yet appeared together since the HBO series. Sophie Turner starred in films such as Dark Phoenix, Broken Soldier, and Do Revenge.
Kit Harington Since Thrones
Kit Harington took leading roles in Blood for Dust, Baby Ruby, and Marvel‘s Eternals, where he starred alongside fellow Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden.
More To Come
While very little is known about The Dreadful at this time, it’s hard to think about the project as anything more than a Game of Thrones reunion for Sophie Turner and Kit Harington. Of course, as the release draws nearer, fans will surely be delighted by promotional materials and trailers which help us to view these actors in their newfound roles.
