Sony Just Confirmed The Fate Of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4?
While Tom Holland has yet to sign on, Tom Rothman has confirmed Spider-Man 4 is moving forward.
Tom Rothman, the longtime producer for Sony, has just confirmed that the next Spider-Man movie is certainly happening. Despite all the rumors of Tom Holland not signing on yet to appear in Spider-Man 4, Roth confirmed that the sequel movie is still happening. The Hollywood Reporter inquired about the next Web-Slinging sequel, which Roth stated, “You bet…when you can expect it, I don’t know, but don’t serve any wine before it’s time.”
Everyone has been expecting Tom Holland to return in Spider-Man 4, but there has been little movement on that front apart from the rumors that have been spreading through the internet since the last movie was released. We would argue that it was going to happen no matter what, as Spider-Man: No Way Home became the sixth highest-grossing movie ever made. While Holland has expressed interest in leaving behind the character, Sony could have already reworked a lucrative deal for him to return to his best character.
We would imagine that Tom Holland returning for Spider-Man 4 would have to also involve at least Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. The Web Head Three Musketeers have been fantastic through the three Spider-Man movies that have already been directed by Jon Watts and bringing back all three might be paramount for the next wave of movies. At least Rothman has confirmed that the movie is moving forward, though we are not sure if everyone is set to return just yet.
There is also a lot to think about when Tom Holland would interact with the symbiote, which could theoretically happen in Spider-Man 4. Tom Hardy’s Venom appeared in a post-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and though he was transported back to his timeline, he left behind the black goo. One of the biggest storylines in Spider-Man is when Peter Parker takes on the black suit and realizes the horrible power within it.
We would assume that Tom Holland’s new deal might secure him for another trilogy of movies, which could then delay his meeting Venom in Spider-Man 4. However, waiting too long to debut the black-suit Spider-Man is something that Sony and Marvel are going to have to come to an agreement about. We just hope that Tom Hardy returns to the MCU despite the rumors that Venom 3 is going to be his last time as Eddie Brock.
Although Tom Holland has yet to be confirmed to return, the good news is that Spider-Man 4 is still happening, and though he could be without Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, the story can continue with Holland by himself. To be fair, Peter did make the ultimate sacrifice by allowing Doctor Strange to go forward with a spell that wiped everyone’s memory of him, but he also lost his best friends because of that same spell. This could mean that Peter Parker is going to be all alone in the fourth installment.
Tom Holland and Spider-Man 4 might also be a few years away, as it has not been revealed in the release plans for the MCU. However, Marvel is also currently reworking its release slate, so it could be that we might see Holland placed within the Phase 5 and 6 plans without the world knowing it right now.
