Will The Snyderverse Continue After Justice League? Here’s The Answer
Let's take a deeper look at what we can expect from the Snyderverse.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is finally here after years of fans campaigning for its release. Snyder’s vision has released on HBO Max and despite the prior “leak” of the film, it drove countless fans to the streaming platform to watch it. In fact, such was the rush to see the film that it sent HBO Max crashing down. We also know that Warner Bros. has no plans of restoring the Snyderverse, the filmmaker’s originally planned trajectory for the DCEU, despite the majorly positive reviews Snyder’s Cut has garnered. But according to some fresh info, while a theatrical release may be out of the question, there are high chances that his vision will get to live on through HBO Max.
Even though Warner Bros. has, more or less, confirmed that they have no interest in pursuing a sequel to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Geekosity Mag has reported that HBO Max is showing interest in continuing the Snyderverse. As per the report, not only is WarnerMedia CEO, Jason Killar, very impressed and happy with Snyder’s Cut’s massive success, but HBO Max is also very interested in telling the story of the DCEU through Snyder’s vision.
This report seems to contradict WarnerMedia Studios CEO, Ann Sarnoff’s recent comments wherein she stressed that Zack Snyder’s Justice League on the streaming platform is in itself a conclusion to the director’s version of the DC cinematic universe. She has no plans for a Snyderverse.
“We wanted to give Zack the opportunity to complete his vision in a four-hour movie, which is impossible to do in theaters. We’re happy that we have HBO Max to let the rope out as it were and allow the fans to see all four-hours of Zack’s vision,” she shared in a chat with Variety.
“I appreciate that they love Zack’s work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC. We’re just so happy that he could bring his cut of the Justice League to life because that wasn’t in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy. We’re very happy we’ve done this, but we’re very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now,” she added.
She also established that the production company has no plans whatsoever of furthering the Snyderverse as they have tons of other projects currently in the pipeline. It is widely known that it was the viral #RestoreTheSnyderCut, which brought the original Justice League to HBO Max and now, ever since the film has released, fans have started yet another campaign- #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. But Sarnoff has assured that even though Warner Bros. is “always going to listen to our fans,” they will not restore the Snyderverse as they want “to stay true to our vision and our mission for DC.”
Though Sarnoff’s comments dash away any hopes of the continuation of the Snyderverse, Geekosity Mag, known for its reliable inside reports, does spark hope. Snyder has shared his elaborate plans for future DCEU films which would have seen Batman joining hands with Deathstroke and the Joker, Darkseid taking over Earth after getting the formidable Anti-Life Equation, an evil Superman, and Superman’s son growing up to be the new Batman. In Snyder’s Cut, we saw how Steppenwolf was defeated by the Justice League, thus thwarting his and Darkseid’s plans. While it delayed the tyrant’s arrival on Earth, he was busy planning a massive invasion on the planet in the closing minutes of the film. If (and hopefully, when) HBO Max does greenlight the Snyderverse, we will finally get to see the originally planned Justice League trilogy and get to know what happens next in the Snyderverse.
