Snowpiercer Fans Just Got Terrible News
One of the biggest science-fiction shows just got some terrible news. Snowpiercer fans will be extremely upset when they read about the show's future.

Fans of the hit series Snowpiercer might want to look away. It has been announced that the post-apocalyptic series is saying its goodbyes, as the fourth season being filmed right now is said to be the last. The cast of the series did not have their options picked up, which means they are free to seek work elsewhere. A spokesperson for the network told Deadline explicitly about the series would certainly be ending. The hit TNT series is the last remaining original scripted show on the network, and now it is being done away with.
Snowpiercer may have been a hit with fans, but TNT is facing the same issues that the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger has caused for everyone. Based on the merger, the network would now be scaled way back on its original scripted programming. Though the series could presumably find life on a streaming platform, things right now look a bit bleak. The series stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Rowan Blanchard, and Roberto Urbina. Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov are some of the newer additions for the fourth season of the series.
Snowpiercer is based on the film by Bong Joon-ho. People might know him for being the writer and director of Parasite, which won Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Back before his hit, foreign language film had come out, Bong worked with none other than Chris Evans on the film of the same name. The film is based on a French graphic novel called Le Transperceneige, by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. It goes to show how popular this story is, as it was a graphic novel, became a hit film, and then a hit TV series. The series, again, could be picked up by another network or streaming service. That is just speculation, but it has happened before.
Snowpiercer follows the lives of passengers on a constant moving train that traverses a post-apocalyptic world stuck in a frozen landscape. The series has lasted four seasons, which is good considering TNT isn’t exactly the biggest network for shows of this caliber. It is sad that TNT is saying goodbye to its final original scripted series. Being shut down at the prime of a story is never good. Now we wonder what TNT is going to be apart from syndicated reruns of sitcoms. Hopefully, the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger can be sorted out and networks can once again focus on original content.
Snowpiercer may be “ending” with season four, but again, that doesn’t mean the show can’t be picked up somewhere else. Take The Orville for example. The show spent two seasons on Fox before it moved to Hulu. The same could presumably happen with Snowpiercer. Just hold out hope that someone will want to continue this story. There are plenty of streaming services out there, with more becoming that much more popular. Snowpiercer could find life on AppleTV, Netflix, Paramount, or any number of other streaming platforms. For now, fans will have to make do with seeing the fourth and final season when it airs.
