Camping isn’t for everyone, but after a few seasons of Laid-Back Camp, even those who aren’t a fan of being outdoors might yearn for a trip. The series is cozy and comforting, perfect to watch when you want to relax and unwind. There may not be big action scenes or a dramatic storyline, but it will sweep you up in the story all the same.

Laid-Back Camp Follows A Camping Club

Laid-Back Camp follows a group of girls, primarily Rin Shima (Nao Touyama), as she enjoys camping on her own. However, one day, she meets another girl, Nadeshiko Kagamihara (Yumiri Hanamori), who pushes her to join the high school’s camping club.

Despite her reservations and enjoyment of being alone when she camps, Rin decides to join them. Chiaki Oogaki (Sayuri Hara) and Aoi Inuyama (Aki Toyosaki) are also in the club, and together, the four girls try out new camping places and activities. Rin learns that she can find enjoyment in camping alone, as well as with others.

A Fan Favorite

Despite the rather simple premise, the Laid-Back Camp has a high rating. On My Anime List, the series has an 8.27 average score and a popularity ranking of #456. It’s a solid slice-of-life, or Iyashikei, seinen featuring cute girls doing cute things.

Amazingly, From The Director Of Tokyo Ghoul

If you’re a fan of anime like Non Non Biyori or Encouragement of Climb, then you’re likely going to enjoy Laid-Back Camp. While the premises aren’t entirely similar, they provide the same feeling of contentment and relaxation.

Laid-Back Camp was created by 8bit Studio (Blue Lock), with Yoshiaki Kyoogoku (Tokyo Ghoul) directing the first two seasons and Shun Tosaka (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) directing the third. Originally, the story was a manga by Afro published by Houbunsha.

The Series Is Definitely Laid-Back

For some, the series may come across as somewhat boring. There’s not a lot going on, and if you’re looking for action or intense moments to get your heart pounding, then Laid-Back Camp is not the show to watch. This is more of a series to enjoy when you want to unwind and relax at the end of the day.

Simple And Wholesome With Minimal Drama

Laid-Back Camp solely focuses on a group of girls going camping on their days off, sometimes together and sometimes apart. The series is simply wholesome and heartwarming without any hint of drama, romance, or frustrating moments. When you watch, you’ll end up just as eager to go camping as all the main characters.

Which is great, because the show is fairly educational. You’ll learn quite a bit about camping when you watch, including interesting foods to try, and important camping gear to have with you.
