Marvel Stars Don’t Even Know What Movies They Are In
There are so many Marvel movies going on that it can be confusing for fans to keep up, but apparently it can also be hard for Marvel actors to keep up as well. Simu Liu, the actor who plays superhero Shang-Chi admitted in a recent interview with Men’s Health that he wasn’t very confident whether or not he would be in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Kang Dynasty. When asked about it, he said, “I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be in it.”
Shang-Chi star Simu Liu doesn’t know whether or not he’ll be in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Simu Liu made his Marvel debut in the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as the eponymous hero. The film follows the origin story of the master of weaponry-based Kung Fu as he grapples with his father/son relationship and his own identity.
Apart from this one film, we have not seen Simu Liu in any other Marvel movies, leading some fans to wonder if and where he will respire his role.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently in pre-production, though everything in Hollywood has come to a screeching halt with the WGA strike. The tentative release date is set for the year 2026, so we have a while to find out what is going to happen in the new Marvel movie and who we will see on the screen.
The only confirmed actors are Anthony Mackie (Captain America) and Jonathan Majors (Kang), and even that could change with the outcome of Majors’ impending court trial. The rumored actors include Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Kathryn Newton (Cassie Lang), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).
In his Men’s Health interview, Simu Liu shared that things are always changing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so nothing is ever guaranteed.
Though Simu Liu is not on the rumored list, the director of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Destin Daniel Cretton, has worked with Simu Liu before on Shang-Chi, so we hope that the two will work together again on this project.
In his Men’s Health interview, Simu Liu shared that things are always changing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so nothing is ever guaranteed. It’s not until you are on set and filming that you can confirm anything, but even then, things can still be changed in post-production.
Despite his uncertainty with Marvel, Simu Liu is still eager and willing to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and a sequel to Shang-Chi. If he gets the green light for the films, then he will happily show up to the set and do whatever it takes to prepare for the role. Until then, he would prefer not to know about the upcoming films, claiming “the less I know the better.”
Simu Liu In Barbie
Recently, Simu Liu has completely shifted gears by playing one of the Ken characters in the new Barbie movie, alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The actor traded in his martial arts gloves for a ballet bar to prepare for the dance choreography in the movie. According to the Marvel star, the preparation for his role as the ripped, dark-haired Ken took just as much preparation as his role of Shang-Chi.
To see Simu Liu trash talk Ryan Gosling in a way that only a Ken doll can, check out Barbie when it comes to theaters on July 21.
