Brad Pitt’s Daughter Gets Name Change After Angelina Jolie

While it is not uncommon for some people to casually express a preference in going by a different name than their legal one, this decision by Shiloh Jolie makes it clear that she has major grievances with her father.

She first filed to have her name changed on her 18^th birthday back in May. The fact that she wants no association with her dad’s surname speaks volumes to how bad the animosity must have grown in the family.

The first the public heard of major problems within the family stems from a few years ago when Angelina Jolie’s legal team described an alleged incident on a plane trip the family took together.

The claims state that during this 2016 plane ride, Brad Pitt grabbed and shook Angelina Jolie during an argument, resulting in their children, including Shiloh Jolie, rushing to intervene.

The claims further allege that Pitt then became physical towards the children, lunging at them, and supposedly choking one and striking another in the face. It is unclear if Shiloh Jolie was one of the individuals who is said to have been harmed during that plane ride. Regardless, upon landing, Jolie says she made it clear to Pitt that she was taking the kids and they were going to a hotel without him.

As for Shiloh Jolie’s name change, part of that process under California law entails having to have the legal forms published in a newspaper for one month. Shiloh did this back in July, having her name change forms published in the Los Angeles Times.

Shiloh Jolie is one of six children that the former couple share together. There is also Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15. They have also been seen publicly supporting their mother, appearing at public events alongside her.

Beyond the allegations of what happened in front of Shiloh Jolie in the 2016 plane incident, there are also other legal matters between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Pitt is also suing his former wife over a winery they shared together that he says she sold her share of without his permission.

As for Pitt’s reaction to his daughter now exclusively going by Shiloh Jolie, he has not said anything on the matter, but he is supposedly devastated by the gesture. “He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” a source is said to have shared. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them.”

He elsewise remains busy with his career, such as an executive producer role for the upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
