The Sexiest Star Trek Starship In Starfleet
There are plenty of beautiful ships in Star Trek, but only one can hold the coveted title of “sexiest starship.” It was tough looking back across the decades to pick our absolute fave, but we’ve come to a decision. That’s right, Trekkers: the USS Enterprise 1701-D is the sexiest Star Trek starship in the history of the franchise.
Speaking of the stars, another reason we’re ready to dub Picard’s ride the sexiest Star Trek starship is that the expansive outer hull gives us a great view of all the lights shining on the exterior.
What, though, makes this Galaxy-class starship so sexy? To start, while we don’t want to be accused of being size queens (better than a Borg Queen, at least), we love that this ship is so chonky.
The cozy interior of the sexiest Star Trek ship often had fans joking that our characters might as well have been working out of a hotel, but this starship’s massive outer hull makes it look instead like an entire majestic city traveling through the stars.
Speaking of the stars, another reason we’re ready to dub Picard’s ride the sexiest Star Trek starship is that the expansive outer hull gives us a great view of all the lights shining on the exterior. It serves as a perfect mirror to the stars our intrepid crew is traveling through, and these lights also serve as a vibrant reminder that the inside of the starship is teeming with life and activity.
And while we get weird looks if we talk about it too much in public, another reason the Enterprise-D is the sexiest vessel that Star Trek ever gave us is because of the neck.
And while we get weird looks if we talk about it too much in public, another reason the Enterprise-D is the sexiest vessel that Star Trek ever gave us is because of the neck. The reason for this is that the neck connecting the saucer section to the rest of the ship is a perfect fusion of form and function: it helps to give the starship its sleek and elegant profile, but the neck also houses a photon torpedo launcher.
It’s a reminder that this beautiful ship, like the crew that commands it, is always seeking peace but is ready to throw down if things go sideways.
[W]hen you see that the Enterprise-E looks like somebody glued ugly toothbrushes to badly flattened coin they got in a run-down gift shop, you’ll appreciate what the D brings to the table.
Also, while fans love to make fun of how often it is the source of The Next Generation’s infamous “technobabble,” the deflector dish is one of the secret ingredients that make this the sexiest ship in Starfleet’s stable.
The coruscating blue of the deflector dish is a reflection of the glowing nacelle, and it’s a design element that helps give a splash of much-needed color to the austerity of the hull design. And we’ve always loved that the deflector looks like a metaphorical portal waiting to take fans to whatever strange new worlds they’d like to visit.
Honestly, these are just a few of the reasons that the USS Enterprise-D is the sexiest Star Trek starship…we had to refrain from talking about the confident power of the nacelles, for example.
But if you really want to appreciate how good this particular ship looks, all you have to do is go back and watch Star Trek: First Contact yet again… when you see that the Enterprise-E looks like somebody glued ugly toothbrushes to badly flattened coin they got in a run-down gift shop, you’ll appreciate what the D brings to the table. Paramount never made a ship this pretty again, and at this rate, they probably never will.
