Fans have been waiting a long time to find out any details about what Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie Seth Rogen had been producing with his writing partner, Evan Goldberg. There had been speculation that he was producing a live-action film, but that has since been debunked, as the new film will be purely an animated feature. This will be the first TMNT animated film to hit theaters since TMNT came out in 2007. The man sure knows how to market his projects, as he shared the title of the new film and its release date via his Twitter page. You can see the tweet below:
The tweet seems to show off a billboard of sorts, with the full name of the film. Seth Rogen is producing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and the tentative release date is August 4, 2023. That means we are going to have to wait exactly one year to see this new take on everyone’s favorite turtles. Apart from knowing the film will be a CGI animated venture, the plot is still unknown. There have also been no casting announcements on who is going to be voicing the turtles in this new film either. However, at least we have a title and release date now.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is going to be directed by Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears. Rowe has famously been a writer for Disenchantment, Gravity Falls, and The Mitchells vs The Machines, which he also co-directed. Joining him on the director’s chair is Kyler Spears. Spears has directed Ambhibia, did some of the voice acting for that series, and worked as a storyboard artist on The Mitchells vs the Machines. This will be his directorial debut. Producing the film are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver. We are quite excited about this new take on the turtles.
This new TMNT movie is meant to reboot the franchise, but it seems in animated form. We are not sure if it is going to spawn further entries, but that might be the hope for now. TMNT from 2007 was a fantastic, animated film, and it was sadly never followed up on. That could be why Seth Rogen has seen fit to tackle one of the best franchises ever made. We also hope to see Shredder return, as he is the best villain that the turtles usually fight.
It is quite odd that we have not received much about the plot or cast, considering the film is only a year away. The usual case for films that are a year away is that we generally have a good idea of everyone involved in the production. Seems Seth Rogen is keeping everything secret on the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will officially debut in theaters on August 4, 2023. We should be hearing some more updates from Seth Rogen in the coming weeks. Well, that is the hope at least. Also, be on the lookout for the possible teaser trailer too. That might follow closely with the reveal of who is voicing the turtles.
