Selena Gomez Reveals Heartbreaking Medical Deficiency

Selena Gomez has always been open about her health struggles. Gomez first revealed she was battling Lupus in 2015, but now the Wizards of Waverly Place star has an even more heartbreaking confession. Gomez revealed in a new interview with Vanity Fair that she cannot carry her own children.

Alternative Means

The Only Murders in the Building actress broke the shocking news during an interview for Vanity Fair’s October cover story.

“I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” confessed Selena Gomez. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy.”

“That was something I had to grieve for a while,” the 32-year-old said. Despite her situation, Selena Gomez still plans to have children—just through alternative means.

Gomez admitted that having a child in a non-traditional way wasn’t quite what she had in mind when she first contemplated motherhood, but she’s getting over it and is willing to compromise.

The Child Will Have A Loving Mother, No Matter What

“I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone,” Selena Gomez said.

However, the “Rare” singer stressed that she was grateful for all the medical alternatives at her fingertips. Gomez called surrogacy and adoption “blessings” and stated that she considers both “huge possibilities” for her future.

Whatever path Selena Gomez takes toward motherhood, the celebrity vows to love her child no matter what. “At the end of the day, I don’t care,” Gomez said. “It will be mine. It will be my baby.”

Babies On The Brain

Fans may wonder if Selena’s fairytale relationship with producer Benny Blanco is what got her thinking about children, but Gomez told Vanity Fair she’s had babies on the brain for quite a while.

Gomez explained she was single for half a decade before meeting Blanco and started contemplating motherhood during that period. Selena claims that being single caused her to ask herself what she wanted out of life. “Family” was the answer.

Meanwhile, Blanco accidentally revealed the couple’s plan to have children during a Howard Stern interview earlier this year. “He can’t lie. After the interview, I was dying laughing.” admitted Selena Gomez. The star cheekily asked her boyfriend if there was “anything else” he wanted to announce to the world.

Her Best Friend

As for her relationship with the potential father of her children, Selena Gomez is happier than she’s ever been. Gomez described Blanco as her “best friend” and a “light” in her life.

She admitted to never being loved the way she is with Blanco and that she considers him not just a lover but her “best friend.”

Despite their closeness, Selena Gomez is in no hurry for her and Blanco to tie the knot. Having young parents who were only briefly married has made Selena leery of jumping into marriage on a whim.

“There’s no rules,” Gomez explained about the trajectory of her relationship. Selena wants Blanco to “always be himself,” while she in turn vows to do the same.

Only Murders In The Building

However, the one area where she puts her foot down is her name. The Spring Breakers star says she’s not changing her name “no matter what.” “I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”

Whether children happen sooner or later, the actress has plenty to keep her busy in the meantime. Selena Gomez will appear with Zoe Saldana in the crime drama Emilia Perez, out November 14, as well as Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building, currently airing on Hulu and Disney+
